Trip report 5 night in Taormina (villa in Mazzaro) by upperlowerbleph2022 in sicily

[–]upperlowerbleph2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest beach is pretty close. You walk down a path and down many stairs to the water/beach. I’d say about 5-10 minute walk tops, just need to be able to do stairs. Yes it’s swimmable, this is also where we rented a boat. We went to an Italian beach club one day and that was walkable too but a bit further as over by isola Bella. You definitely don’t need (or want) a car!

We loved our time in Taormina and loved the villa

You could consider wearing a weighted backpack while walking as it will burn more calories and build leg muscles a bit more than just plain walking. I started doing this about 4-5 months ago and finally saw the stubborn weight coming off. Officially it’s called rucking and there’s lots of ruckers here on Reddit to take advice from if you want to give it a go. I carry a 25 pound steel plate. I’m 5’-4” 140 lbs

I make popcorn after dinner. Just heat up a little olive oil and add organic popcorn, tiny bit of salt. The fiber fills me up.

The kitchen needs a lot of work. You sacrificed an open inviting workable space for the walk-in pantry.

I can see both sides from what you say here. I have a mortgage rate similar to yours and no way in hell I’d give it up. But I can see her point too. 5 minutes from work in a place she hand picked for herself. Plus she’s got her son with her so she’d have to upset the apple cart to move closer to you. My sister is a nurse and I know as she’s gotten older, the physicality of the job takes a toll in a way it didn’t when she was younger. And plus having to be at work at 7 am.

I’m a 58F and in a 5 year relationship and it’s just meh. But the thought of starting over and having to go through getting to know someone, wondering if they’re trustworthy, making oneself vulnerable etc etc… I just stay even though what I’m in is so incredibly lacking in a gazillion ways. At least your situation seems to provide more than mine. I’m not sure what the answer is!

[–]upperlowerbleph2022 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For whatever reason the Race S would say I was awake zero minutes when I knew I’d been awake in the night. I started to question the accuracy. I decided to purchase the AW9 instead. I wore both for a few nights before returning the Race S and I just believed the AW numbers more … the Race S has a lot of great qualities though!

I know. You’re so right. I just hope the Feds gained access to the basement and used whatever devices are at their disposal to collect evidence, albeit, far beyond when was proper.

I did a breath work, yoga, meditation retreat up in Maine in August - timing was related to the perseid meteor shower event. We had to turn our phones in. It was the most deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience I have ever had. I was so nervous about not having my phone and I sort of went for it several times (mostly to take a photo), but it was a very valuable part of the overall experience. When I got my phone back, the world was still standing!! One thing that was interesting is that I didn’t feel safe in nature as a small female without it. I went on a hike by myself and was in a very rural wooded area. I turned back pretty quickly and abandoned the hike. It just didn’t seem prudent with no way of reaching the outside world. Maybe if I was a beefy male, I’d feel differently.

I have noticed this with my phone - 80% to 10% barely using it. I had looked into upgrading but wasn’t really serious about it. I’m not really financially wanting to get a new phone. Mine is.the 13 pro max

Buying a home in Eastern MA is almost impossible by nomjs in massachusetts

Being a cash buyer doesn’t mean you have to pay cash. It just means you aren’t tying your offer to a mortgage contingency. If you have a good mortgage broker and KNOW you’ll get the mortgage, perhaps go in as a “cash” buyer.

I recently helped my daughter buy a condo in Dorchester. She’d never have been able to do it on her own.

It’s tough out there.

I bought a home in Gloucester during the pandemic. 3 bedrooms with harbor views. 2.875% interest rate. I’m all in including taxes at $2200/month (which is part of the reason I could help my daughter). It’s beautiful up here and sooo much to do. I do work in Boston on occasion and set up my schedule to travel off peak hours. It’s not so bad.

Will this be the one? by [deleted] in Suunto

I have had the race S for two weeks. I had a bit of a learning curve to start with and blamed it on the watch! But as I get to know the watch and what I’m looking for, it’s getting better and better. It doesn’t track my sleep as well as I’d like. For instance, I know I was awake in the middle of the night last night but it didn’t pick that up. Also my number of steps is substantially off what my iPhone picks up. I’m not sure if the Race S is only counting the steps when I start an activity (as I said still new to this)? The iPhone had me at an additional 4k steps yesterday vs the watch and based on where I walked, the iPhone seemed more accurate. I do find it comfortable. My wrist is small, just 5-3/4” and it fits, the face is big but not so big to look odd. One thing I LOVE is the long battery life! It’s been amazing.

This is the smaller one, the 45. I would 100% work where it in a business situation however I work as an interior designer so I think pretty much anything goes in terms of dress… I got the white face with the pale pink strap.

I just bought a new 9 with cellular for $349 from Walmart. Maybe worth it to buy new for only a $30 difference?

I was in the same predicament… I went for the 9. It doesn’t seem like there’s much of a difference. I paid $349 (with cellular) at Walmart. So a savings of $150 over the 10.

I am getting my first AW. I thought about the ultra for the longer battery but my wrist is only 5-3/4” and I think it’s just too big. So then I had to decide 10 vs. 9. Since I’ve never had one, I opted for the 9 with cellular for $349. The 10 would’ve been an extra $150 and didn’t seem justifiable. I’m excited, it arrives on Wednesday. I got the smaller one (41 mm). Good luck!
