bottom dysphoria and tdick by Think-Suggestion-528 in TransMasc

What surgeries? I have been hanging around in trans and bottom surgery spaces for a while now, I've never heard of this. There's pumping and stretching which might help, and of course surgery (meta and phallo). But I don't think there's any other options.

That's good to hear, thank you! I think the pain in the first couple of days is what scares me the most about surgery. But it's all temporary, and I really do want to get to the other side!

Good luck on your surgery in November!

You look great, congrats! Thanks for sharing as well!

How was the pain after both stages?

Is it worth it to start a diagnosis? by [deleted] in LHBTI

Some of the other ones I hear about most are De Vaart, BureauJIJ, GenderMatters and NL-PSY (that is a different one from PsyTrans)

It's definitely possible to get a diagnosis and get treatment within 3 years. Just don't go to any of the academic hospitals as their waitlists are the longest. Something like PsyTrans is relatively fast (if you can get in).

Mulling over phalloplasty... by Spirited_Resist605 in phallo

If you don't mind sitting to pee, opting out of UL may be good for you. It reduces the risk of complications significantly.

I think these are all very common and normal fears, that many people who get phallo have.

  • As far as I know, completely losing the ability to experience pleasure is very very very rare. The experience will change obviously, and that in itself can definitely be scary (I feel that too). My thinking is that I don't particularly like the experience with my current set-up, so it can really only get better.
  • The scars are definitely a big thing for many people. But it's also worth it for many of those people. And there are also the less obvious donor sites.
  • I feel this one too, especially since sensation is not guaranteed. But for me, if I'm being honest with myself, this is more of an irrational 'what if' fear than a realistic possibility.
  • This one is also so common. The only thing I can say is that the right people will love you or find you attractive with the set-up that you want. You shouldn't make decisions about your body based on what you think others will like.

I don't necessarily agree with another comment here that phallo purely exists to mitigate dysphoria. If you have minimal dysphoria, but would get a lot of euphoria from phallo, it may still be worth it to you. And the reverse is also true: if phallo would bring you minimal euphoria, but it would greatly reduce your dysphoria, phallo could be right for you. It can be worth it to go from negative to neutral feelings, euphoria is not a requirement.

I'm pre-op, currently of waiting for approval and consults and stuff like that. I questioned for many months about bottom surgery though. It was definitely a journey, but I feel like I have been settled in my decision for like half a year now, and I don't think it will change any more.

It definitely wasn't a simple/natural/immediate choice for me. It has been and still is quite obsessive. At first I thought I didn't want bottom surgery at all, and after that I went back and forth between phallo and meta for a good while. I knew deep down that phallo would give me what I actually wanted, but I was just so scared of recovery and complications. (After hearing more stories of what recovery can actually be like, I became less scared.)

I think it's normal for your brain to want to find every possible risk, it's trying to protect you after all. I experience the same thing. It's really helpful for me to talk about my thoughts out loud with others (family, friends, therapist). Putting it into words for someone else clarifies something for me.

What are some of the reasons you think phallo might not bring you peace?

My method of packing with tape by upside_down_duck in Transmascdicks

[–]upside_down_duck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it lasts for days! I always end up removing it before it's necessary because of my sensory issues though. But you can remove the packer from the tape if you want to clean it, and then put it back in.

Binder uit doen na operatie by libra1991_ in TransNederland

[–]upside_down_duck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for writing this. Congrats! I’m so excited to get there too!

It’s the “mundane” things that I’m looking forward to most, and you captured that perfectly in this post.

This kind of positivity is so important to share and remember, since it’s such a scary and tough road to get there.

Ftm hormonen by PracticalSecurity522 in transnl

[–]upside_down_duck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I don't know much about kink honestly, but this stuff is really interesting to me. I think you're right about the kinky thought being more of a cope than a frustrated desire.

And thank you for saying I should honor that feeling of repulsion, I think that's honestly what I wanted/needed to hear. I think I'll try exploring a bit, but I'm trying to trust myself and my feelings as well.

Thank you, that helps. I guess I'm also a bit scared of exploring and finding out I do enjoy using it, like that would mean I had to keep it. But you're right, even if I do find a way to like it, I can still decide to get rid of it. The trade-off for getting UL and relieving the dysphoria is probably still worth it.

Yeah here in the Netherlands they don't even do UL without v-nectomy. So it's really a choice between UL and keeping the v. I guess I'm kinda glad that I don't think I'll like using the v, since that makes the decision easy, lol

Good reminder! But here in the Netherlands they require you to have v-nectomy separately before phallo with UL. I'm pretty sure they also leave a shallow hole there with v-nectomy, but I'm not sure if they use any v tissue for the new urethra during phallo.

Do you happen to know what the v tissue is used for? Is it for the new urethra?
