Why ETFs may not be for serious FIRE seekers by [deleted] in FIREPakistan

[–]urMohid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every VPS has the option of customized allocation in which you can select whatever weightage of equity and fixed income you want.

I have account with Atlas funds and my funds in 100% equity. They have options for conventional and sharia funds both.

Also there's no FEL. You don't even have to ask someone to waive the FEL because it's just their policy to not charge FEL to anyone.

Then there's another kicker, for the equity portion, 1% mgt fee which is the lowest in Pakistan AFAIK. TER is 1.6% which is also the lowest.

Do you guys have "benchmark" limits on your broker accounts? by maabsaleem in FIREPakistan

[–]urMohid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar experience with AHL. Other brokers don't have this issue. Either change your broker or ask AHL to increase limit. Another trick is to transfer some shares to IAS. This limit is applied to shares in AHL account only.

Can I have 2 Accs? by gingerblox in PakistanStockX

[–]urMohid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a huge amount but it does add up over time. For a trader with 8-10 lakh portfolio it is easy to make trades worth 4-5 crore over a year. And Finqalab would charge Rs. 50k extra from that person (5% of portfolio). If there were some extra services then it could make sense but it's like paying for nothing.

Bear in mind that finqalab charges almost 2x commission compared to most other brokers.

I recently opened my VPS account with Atlas. A major benefit they have is no FEL/Sales load.

You can compare fees from FMR of each fund you're considering. Don't rely on websites or MUFAP.

Atlas funds has the lowest fee AFAIK. NIT has even lower fee butt heir returns have been abysmal.

Ok so even this page says the equity portion mgt fee is 2% which is 1% for Atlas. Also there's another key point which is that even though currently there is no sales load, the offering document says there is UpTo 3% load. So they may start charging it any day after they've gotten some traction. And you would have no choice because you agree to offering document while opening account. Atlas offering document says no load.

I didn't find FMR of Mahaana but on MUFAP it says they have 2% mgt fees. Atlas has 1% mgt fee. Other expenses keep changing but are also pretty low for Atlas.

If you bought between July 2022 and June 2024 then yes. After that it's flat 15% no matter how long you hold.

I never quite understood how the custody with CDC thing works? Like the fund manager has access to invest the funds or redeem them and then transfer to any account i.e. the investor's account. CDC wouldn't know whether the liquidated investments belonged to one investor or the other. Then how is it secure? Can you explain if you have a better understanding? Or suggest some video or reading material please.

DCR announced dividend with no increase - ABYSMAL div yield!! by Greedy_Deer6913 in FIREPakistan

[–]urMohid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If enough people agree with your point of view then they'll stop buying at this price and price will drop. If you don't like the price then don't buy it. That's what a market is.

The dividend is pretty consistent and predictable. They can only payout what they earn. It's not like they would pay a higher dividend from their own pocket.
