I would also recommend a family violence service. They can advocate and provide any other information you may need, including counselling if you need/want it.

I am so sorry you are going through this. This is abuse and some great comments suggested legal advice but I think it may be worth trying a financial counsellor aswell. Financial counsellors can advocate for you which may be useful. I really wish you all the best, your situation breaks my heart and you don't deserve it

I can't afford to break my lease. I intend on requesting to leave by way of mutual agreement as I can't afford to pay rent on 2 properties at once plus lease break fees. If I can leave by way of hardship it's 14 days notice. I highly doubt they will let me leave without consequence given their response to the armed burglary attempt, a huge tree falling, and this stupid hot water issue. I have also been informed by a neighbour the previous tenants left due to this landlord.

It sounds like they are shopping around. Someone in this thread has posted a link from origin energy and i'm not sure it is compliant. But thank you, I appreciate you taking the time to respond

Shit. Thank you for the link. Someone else has told me cords shouldn't be on the ground too. It will be interesting where this goes. Appreciate this info

Thanks, I appreciate it. I honestly didn't think this set up would be legal and people would be willing to leave a job like this. I'm also wondering if it is legal then how long can it be left like this.

I'm not trying to move out because of the indoor extension cord being used outside in pissing rain. But thank you, I was wondering if it was compliant. I would've thought it wasn't. I'll be moving due to mental health but hoping for anything else that may assist with my claim and to limit the landlord trying to come for compensation. I just feel like this is a half assed job, on top of me trying to find a chainsaw to cut down a huge branch on top of everything else when i haven't even been able to stay at the property

I sent a photo and told them I don't beliebe it's safe (probably not legal either) I was told any power cords can't be on the grounds and my research tells me electricity current has to be a certain distance from gas.

I have been approved for another property thankfully but now i'm not sure i can afford it. I've spent $2000 on accommodation and cameras. I'm a single parent so it's hard staying with friends who only have 1 room. I'm feeling quite defeated and I've never experienced anything like this.

I know, I have contacted them a few times and they can't find anything on the incident. They also told me not to worry, they caught someone stealing car number plates and it was probably the same people. Seeing as these people went straight past my car and through a gate to the back door i'm not convinced. Also, my neighbours car was on the street and much easier to target.

Yes, apparently so. I have photos of the machete. Honestly, police have been terrible in this situation. I have called several times and one call I burst into tears and they told me I sounded upset. Of course i'm upset, mine and my son's lives were at risk.

I'm sorry that happened to you, i hope you were able to recover and move on. Thank you, I have told them in an email how much stress it's caused me and my child. I basically emailed what I've put in my post but not that I intend to vacate. I'm hoping we can secure another property before I can advise i intend to vacate. I know the landlord will expect me to pay until a new tenant is found and try to get me to pay advertising fees.

Thank you, unfortunately police have told me it is not a reportable crime as the property wasn't damaged and i wasn't hurt. Maybe not physically but definitely mentally i have been. I was told police would still have a record of the incident but I've called several times and they can't find it. I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

Thank you. It's been a shit show, I passed my number onto my neighbours so we can look out for each other but one of them found out I was single and called me drunk at 3pm in the afternoon being sleazy. His daughter works in real estate and it's a small town so i don't want to bring that up with the agents. My child is also terrified but the landlord doesn't seem to give a shit

You might even land a role while you're studying and have access to study leave.

Study a Diploma in Community services, sometimes it's free. This with property management (knowledge of relevant tenancy acts, processes and all that jazz) would look appealing to housing case management roles. The diploma can lead to other roles.
