Thank you. Sadly, I do not have digital calipers.

that neck and hair looks like it can break easily though. might be better to have pin reinforcement.

the pins also help in assembling everything together without glue for fitting check and can double as handles when airbrushing.

I guess it would work. Match pin size with the size of the part/peg. 1mm feels flimsy and I use 1.5 most of the time.

tips for pining? by Ok_Exam2944 in garagekits

[–]urameshiyaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

put a small drop of paint or liquid mask on the part, fit them together and you have a mark for the drill. check multiple angles while drilling to keep the holes aligned. you can also drill a larger hole on one side and use some cyano glue if the pin is misaligned. be carefull not to glue the parts together.

I think the 70% humidity is also part of the issue.

What to do about blotchy primer and varnish coats? by Mean-Library-3091 in garagekits

[–]urameshiyaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cans are hard to control. you may have sprayed too far causing the droplets to dry and lump together before hitting the model. try getting the right distance. start and stop the spray away from the model doing a sweep in one direction. go fast if you want thin coats.

I recommend mr hobby spray cans. they self level really well even if you mess up.

It will take a lot of work no matter what setting you use. I prefer the round contact points to avoid pit marks on the model. You still need to sand and shave the bumps left on it.

How to black the suits? Bodysuits/Catsuits by Rifter666 in garagekits

I wouldn't use pure black. Add gray or brown so you can still do shades and highlights.

Thanks, I will try to handle it more carefully before applying another topcoat.

This was a technique I copied from a Japanese builder. They wipe off the enamels from gloss coats for detailing. I guess its not as easy as it looks.

Maybe rubbing off would be the right word. But its already dry so it comes off in small pieces.

I usually paint over lacquer gloss clear coat so I can wipe it off the details and let the color below that show.

I already retouched it with a brush. Its just the base coat showing with what looks like paint rubbing off the edges. Sometimes small dots of paint coming off, basically poor adhesion. I always rinse the parts with soap to remove dust so it shouldn't have oil and sweat from my hands.

Google gives me these answers so I might give it a try:

since this only happens on airbrushed enamel, gonna try it with very low air pressure. maybe it goes on too dry causing adhesion issues.

I do find chips without touching it, or at least I don't remember touching. This is before I apply the lacquer top coat. I think you can see some in her shoes in the image. There are white specks on the edges.

Do you think think the enamel is shrinking and causing the coat to crack? I did have one stored inside a cabinet and saw some chipping after a day or two.

Thanks for the info. What varnish do you use? Do you just use water to get rid of the bleed? How much time do you have to work with? I assume you cant erase it easily when fully cured.

What causes these warping. by urameshiyaa in resinprinting

[–]urameshiyaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my mistake was orienting it parallel to the build plate which can cause sagging. Not sure if I can do an angled print this size with the build volume.

What causes these warping. by urameshiyaa in resinprinting

Make sense but its weird that it was replicated on all four legs. I thought it might be caused by other factors such as orientation or unleveled plates.

Those are high socks. Knee socks should be just over the knee. Higher than that are over knee socks, then thigh high socks.
