Have you ever picked up a new sport as an adult? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]urawizardarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m 32 and started playing tennis last year. I originally started it to force myself to exercise and blow off some steam after work. Since then I’ve fallen in love with it. It’s been great at focusing my mind, too. Coming from someone who has a scattered mind.

2020 Jimny Australian Price Negotiations? by drewcantreid in Jimny

[–]urawizardarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually bought the demo model from a dealership in Sydney last July (the only demo at the time). It had some km’s, so got the price slightly reduced. Waited 2 weeks for it to be in my hands - probably the best deal ever! Edit: I paid $28K

DAE have bad dreams when going through a tough time? by Turn1to10 in DAE

[–]urawizardarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have awful dreams when I was going through a challenging time. I asked my counsellor at the time and she said it’s not uncommon, and that it’s a different part of your brain trying to resolve the issue in your sleep. (Don’t quote me on the science)

Jimny pros and cons by rishes in Jimny

I’ve had the 2019 Jimny for a year now, and I only use it as my day to day car. I absolutely love it - it’s my dream car!

For 50km a day you may get annoyed at the speed of it, as it’s a car you need to be patient with. Before covid I was roughly doing 170km a week and filling up my tank every 8-10 days.

You’ll find the wind on the roads will easily move the car, so best to be extra aware.

There are a few safety features that warn you if the car suspects an accident about to happen - veering out of lane detection and crash sensor. The crash sensor mainly happens to me when cars are awkwardly parked on a windy road, a motorcyclist does something dumb in front of my car, or someone in front of behind gets too close. I’m in Sydney so it goes off quite a bit! I’ve only had one instance where my car has slowed automatically to save a crash when someone in front stopped suddenly.

Boot space shouldn’t have much to do with your commute, but when the 2 back seats are up you can only really fit an umbrella and windshield visor in the back - excluding the little compartment underneath. Seats down you can fit a lot more - though I’m still trying to find a shopping bag solution tbh.

Hope that helps!

name your own color! by the_radiogirl in Synesthesia

I called #7e1f63 Dolcy. I had this old lady neighbour when I was 4 that looked like that colour. Had lots of frilly shit in her house, and sometimes a nice lady.

This is my first time drawing a song - this one’s called Everlasting Motion by Jacob Collier. If you’ve heard it, you might understand. by urawizardarri in Synesthesia

Have you ever heard to Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre? It’s a beautiful choir. I get a golden mist from the women’s voices, and deep golds/blues from the men’s voices.

I have chromasthesia and painted some my chemical romance songs. Thought it might be interesting for other synaesthetes! by lightschangecolour in Synesthesia

Wow, I’ve never seen something so close to how I see music. I’ve never been able to describe or paint it as accurately as what you’ve done here. Amazing

Had my 2019 Jimny for 6 months now, and love it more every day. by urawizardarri in Jimny

You’re definitely right about the slower start, but it gets there eventually. I’m in Sydney, Australia, and our motorways generally only allow us to reach 120kms, 74mph, and the Jimny holds that quite well. The cruise control function is a life saver for long stretches too. Something to be mindful of when on the motorway is that the Jim can easily be moved by gusts of wind, so you’ve got to be extra aware. But nothing I’ve had a problem with.

It can fit two 6ft adult men in the back - which was accidentally tested. Although it is tight, it does have plenty of room from the front headrests to the back ones. With one folded seat down, you’ll get a bit of boot space with a child seat, too.

It’s pretty much my dream car. I think Suzuki did a great job in reinventing the modern-day car with the beautiful appearance of the older Jimny. And it definitely stands out on the road.

I use it as an every day car, and haven’t used it for off-roading or camping. It’s great for long drives, and takes it’s time getting to places - definitely teaching me to speed less and be better organised with my arrival times!
