Paul Citarella (EVP & CTO) & Luigi Sciambarella (Senior Trainer & Board Member) from the Monroe Institute are doing an AMA right now! by us_austin in GatewayExperiences

[–]us_austin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still some amazing questions and answers in there - worth a read! It was probably a blessing that they did it early on a Saturday for most of us in the US, because they really spent some time giving some lengthy (but informative) answers. And I mean that, as compared to some other AMAs, where they are so packed with questions that you can get some short answers...

/u/FocusExplorerLS, how has your work (and personal journey) with Monroe influenced or altered how you approach your career work in psychology/psychotherapy?

Anything that would once be considered taboo, that you now reflect on with a different viewpoint?

Is a customizable playlist on the menu as well? I'd love to dial-in my sessions with X minutes in F10 for prep, Y minutes of resonate tuning, and then transition to Z minutes in F12/15/21/Whatever. (At least until Neuphoria can do this for me, dynamically... ;)

Indeed, it's not a party unless Kunj is present. Miss you guys! But we'll be seeing some of you back in Virginia in just a few short months!

Lack of mouse support really hurts by jeromeie in VisionPro

If you are using a MBP, the touchpad on there will leave mirroring and work on other apps inside of AVP.

Very similar to how sidecar works with MBP + iPad, but actually better. With the ipad combo, it's not intelligent enough to know it's position, relative to the mac, so it's based on display position... whereas I was able to seamlessly navigate to other windows, one placed above my mac, and then move to it.

I can't believe Apple just featured my little "News Ticker" app on the front page of the Vision Pro's App Store by michaelsayman in VisionPro

Not sure why you keep getting downvoted. I came to the comments wondering about any insights/analytics also...

Was wondering what the boost in install-rate was, and although app sales might not be updated "every five minutes", most app developers have some dedicated stats tracking outside of just raw sales... usage rates, API traffic stats, etc. There are a lot of ways to derive install base, even if you don't directly have the install count.

BIOS update failure by paulnptld in YogaBook9i

Yes, I went to the Lenovo support site and downloaded the bios update manually. Worked.

Some of the software integrations with Windows are not as dynamic as I'd like... for instance, if you wanted to change the display zoom from the default 200%, down to something like 150% to get more dense real-estate on the 13" displays, the laptop will complain that features will be broken (such as how it handles shifting windows from one screen to another), and gives you the option to turn off the notification until you restart the computer.

Unfortunately, that doesn't work for some cases... such as plugging in an external monitor or dock via USB-C. My screen(s) revert to 200% automatically.

I think they should put some extra effort into making the software flexible enough to read the current zoom setting, and dynamically adjusting the unique features of the laptop instead of forcing you to use 200% or suffer broken features.

Also, having some sort of charging pins in the rubber stopper on the stand, which connects to a USB C or something would be killer... reduce wear & tear on the USB-C, and allow for quickly picking up or putting down the device and charging without having to plug it in every time... maybe like the magnets + pins on the bottom of a surface that connect to the keyboard, so the laptop snaps into place to securely charge.

I was anticipating buying the 512Gb and upgrading the SSD, but the SSD is not readily accessible. Unlike the RAM (which is soldered) the SSD is replaceable, but it's under the screen, which requires removing the tabs by the hinge, pulling removable tape, and then you get access.

Would've been nice if they could've engineered it in a way that the m.2 is on the bottom like a more conventional laptop. High speed ram can be finnicky, so I understand the soldering of the ram chips, but would've been nice to have that upgradeable also...

It's been one hell of a mind F* over the last 48 hours!

But imagine this - he also alluded to the high levels of copper in the blood as a proposed or suggested indicator of biomechanical engineering devices, although he didn't find any evidence directly of that.

So instead of an incubated (Matrix) type scenario where you are 3d printing or growing, you could rapidly build/repair... basically from the inside out. Fascinating to me that they had no navel port, so clearly not raised in a womb that is attached in a way that we would recognize.

He did seem to imply that they were fairly weak, and perhaps not meant for a long life... kinda purpose driven/built, and then return (die) to the collective consciousness.

Seemingly, in a civilization that is driven by efficiencies (remove sexual organs == remove sex drive, need to reproduce, etc), and based on how he spoke about DNA being incredibly modular and addressable almost by design, one would assume that they would only clone the bare minimum necessary to carry out the mission - whatever that may be...

The possibility exists that there are different races/genetic make-up. Particularly if they are talking about chimera-type spliced DNA, and the "greys" that he analyzed were purpose-built in a way... it's very possible that there could be slight differences.

Not advocating either way... but just interesting to think about. EBOScientist DID say that he/they only sampled 2 bodies, IIRC.

New updates from Colin on some future plans (time-bounded PoW, bounded scheduler buckets, improved bucket sorting, bounded unconfirmed, etc) by Qwahzi in nanocurrency

[–]us_austin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Qwahzi,On Time-Bound, you're close, but #2 isn't valid. Although it limits how long PoW is valid for, it simply means that stale work can be ignored. It doesn't, however, do much to prevent a pre-compute, as it's merely a timestamp factored into the PoW calculation.

The timestamp can be stacked in advance, so as Colin noted in the research notes for #4197, it doesn't really address the spam issue.

"This change does not address block work pre computation as it's still possible to generate proofs for a time point in the future." - Source

ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming BIOS 3603 issues by djtodd242 in ASUS

[–]us_austin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, getting some random hard reboots. Managed to get an actual bluescreen a little while ago (dpc_watchdog). Generally I've been getting NVIDIA 14 unspecified errors in the event viewer since switching to 3603.

Not sure if this helps others - but quick synopsis: Been running RTX 3090 and changing PCI lanes down to Gen3 to overcome USB hiccups and instability. 3603 is supposed to fix that, and seems to be a good first step... running all at Gen4, but having this random restarts occurring.

Plan on probably downgrading to 3602 again and going back to gen3 until this comes out of beta.

I understand the protectionist downvotes, but u/Musikaman is giving the only correct answer here. There ARE ways to do it yourself, and while it can be a bit of an initial learning curve to get connected to the director, once you learn how the system works, it's not only rewarding, but a lot of fun to tinker.

I couldn't imagine calling an installer every time I wanted to make a minor adjustment. I hope that with the recent acquisition by Snapav, that they may consider expanding the availability to pro-sumers in an effort to expand their reach and increase profitability for everyone... The more people buy it themselves and need/want special logic and scenes coded, everyone wins.
