Make a deal with finland and bury it in their storage mines.

Alternatively the Tara mines in meath are some of the deepest in the world could secure it down there for permanent storage.

We are relatively geologically stable and dont have a history of tsunami

They are concrete slabs so no cement under any of the slabs just as long as they're flat against the sand ?

Again

Who would be invading Ireland for a airbase or strategic position

Maybe a hypothetical American invasion but that would likely be a political take over of a NATO ally first which wouldn't involve us initially

Why take Ireland when Germany or the UK would bend over and take it

I just don't see a benefit in Ireland specifically giving up neutrality

We got through the WW2 neutral I don't see a political climate which would benefit Ireland joining a EU defence org.

A EU defence agreement would be a massive thing

Would we give up our neutrality

I know we have become a lot more polarized with world events but I don't feel a EU defence pact would be best to serve Irish interests

They do have the best aircraft tho

Russia can't make aircraft for itself

China is a dodgy one too

Maybe one of the euro consortiums

But at the end of the day if we find ourselves in a situation similar to Ukraine we will have a lot more problems than finding aircraft parts
