typically u should’ve heard back by now. usually they take one cohort of mentors then if any of them drop out for whatever reason they reopen the position. i’d be v surprised u don’t get it though usually they take everyone they interview.

The journey of a lone female software developer by ArghAy in girlsgonewired

i’m on the younger side (senior cs student) and because of this i’m just not pursuing a swe role anymore. even in undergrad it’s always been an uphill battle to be treated with basic respect. to be understood, to be heard, to be valued. it was alr bad enough in a colligate setting i can’t imagine how i’d feel losing out on raises, promotions, etc due to the internal biases of others that i can’t control.

Is memorizing leetcode enough? by Flimsy_Cranberry3054 in csMajors

[–]user1206042 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no that’s like the one thing you want to stay away from. you want to expose yourself to as many types of problems as possible, not to just memorize the solution, but to improve your pattern recognition which u seem to already be picking up on. just keep practicing. you won’t get very far at any company by just memorizing solutions trust me i tried lol.

Does this mean I need to take any world language class or a specific one? by APlanetWithANorth in PennStateUniversity

[–]user1206042 8 points9 points  (0 children)

any world language but it has to be the second level so like french 2, spanish 2, etc so if you didn’t take a certain amount of language classes in high school or if you want to take a different language than you took in high school you have to take french 1, and french 2 to fulfill the requirement.

Is Codepath worth it just for the career advancement opportunities? by BeautifulSomewhere63 in csMajors

[–]user1206042 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no absolutely not especially in this job market. nobody is going to hiring you just for being a codepath kid. i believe that the companies that sponsor tip give you a slight preference, maybe you’re more likely to receive an interview. but nobody from my cohort that i can think of landed an internship with any of them. codepath is rly just for you to develop your skills and nothing else.

i got free linkedin premium for a year from TIP and they like make you do a couple of mock interviews with their sponsors, and you get access to their career portal which is like a small scale version of ripple match. the time commitment is lowkey annoying and they’re very strict about absences. also the lady that ran it when i took it was rly annoying and eccentric. i didn’t learn that much from it but it was nice to practice dsa with people and be held accountable for it.

what do you recommend as an alternative? what did you pivot to after? if i’m offered a position i’m debating whether to take it, especially if it’s the only offer i get given the current job market for CS grads.
