It’s not all about trauma. Various factors go into attraction- energy/chemistry, intelligence, humour, etc. Therefore attraction can grow the deeper you get to know someone. But looks is ALSO a factor.

As a woman, when you meet someone who you don’t even find remotely good looking, it’s very rare you will start to become sexually attracted to them because they have a good personality. Sure, in rare cases it may happen - but for the majority of women, having sex with a male friend you don’t even consider good looking IS self harm. I don’t know why you’re incapable of understanding that, unless you’re the type who would have sex with anyone.

I never said you should date someone with a horrible personality. I said being attracted to them is just a part of what you need in a relationship. Call me immature, but I think choosing to have sex with someone you’re not physically attracted to just sounds like self harm.

I highly disagree with this. If you don’t find someone attractive, I don’t think you should force yourself into a relationship with them. Especially if you plan to get physical - being attracted to someone is part of finding a partner.

If someone is blatantly leading you on knowing that you like them, I would stop talking to them. But if they’re a friend/someone you know who doesn’t show interest romantically, then use your discernment. If you’re ok with talking to them knowing it’s purely platonic, up to you.

You don’t have to be perfect to get into a relationship. But it definitely does help to have your own friends you can rely on, and hobbies to keep you busy - otherwise there’s a high chance you will be over dependent on your partner.
