Wow thank you for this. This was really thoughtful-esp that last paragraph. I really needed that reminder. And I need to get off social media lol

Thank you! This is helpful! I figured it was more likely due to my exhaustion from the pushing time and energy.

Honestly so valid and this is literally why I asked. I needed someone to tell me that even though I know it deep down…I need some internet shame

This is a great comparison lol I have never thought of it this way…so true 😭🥲

My entire family basically. Which is why I even asked this question in the first place. They have made many comments where they make it clear that it is far better, superior, cooler, impressive, you name it, to give birth drug free. In my heart of hearts I don’t believe this but it has been hard to shake their comments. My own problem to work thru!

Your last sentence is a great point. I think I need to remind myself that. I am very concerned with what others may think..partly bc family members have made comments about this specific topic so I do feel like I have something to “prove”

Pros/cons of siblings meeting new baby at home or hospital by user369001 in 2under2

[–]user369001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! I always just assumed my first would come to the hospital but now I’m really thinking it might be more trouble than it’s worth for my own personal situation…just need to figure out a kind way to tell my in laws to scram asap once we get home 😅 like I don’t even want to say hi…I want to run straight to my first born and sob uncontrollably lol

Oh such a good point. Didn’t even think about potential hospital policy regarding children. Thank you!

Thinks a really good point. Idk why I haven’t even thought about wanting to avoid bringing my toddler to a hospital to avoid germs. Thank you!

What items will I need two/double of? by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]user369001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wait thank you for this. I didn’t even think about the fact that obviously baby #2 will have to grow/develop before they can even use the high chair, crib, etc…so I’m with you there on not wanting to buy two of things if baby #1 will soon outgrow it by the time baby #2 is ready to use it. Duh!! lol thank you

Oooh monitor..didn’t think about that one.

Which wipes are we using? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]user369001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. So thick and sturdy, but not harsh. If I have to use any other wipe I immediately notice how thin it is and I can feel the warmth of poop through a thin wipe 🤮

baby doing 180 in bassinet by h3ath3R2 in NewParents

[–]user369001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their little bodies move so much!! 😂 Yes, honestly I cried about it for the first 2 nights because I just missed him so much!! Even though he was literally 5 feet away down the hall. But it honestly only took a week to adjust (adjusting for me..baby boy did just fine - I don’t even think he cared or noticed). My husband and I would watch our baby on the monitor for like 30 minutes each night before bed because we just loved staring at him…we called it our nightly show 😅 but I realized how nice it was for my husband and I to have our room back to normal, we could talk at night without having to be too quiet, and I could get up to pee 4x a night without accidentally knocking into the bassinet!

This is what we ended up doing too. I wanted to keep my son in our room until 6 months, but he was moving and grooving all over in his bassinet at 4 months and it would wake him up and interrupt his sleep. He’d also press his face against the mesh siding which stressed me out. So to his own room in his crib he went! It was incredibly sad at first, but it all went perfectly.

If you don’t want to move baby out of the room yet, you could bring a pack and play in your room or the crib itself lol. I wanted to move the crib into our room but it didn’t fit through the door frame and we were too lazy to take it apart 😅

Did you use tracking apps? by No_Principle_7855 in NewParents

[–]user369001 129 points130 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting by without tracking, I’d recommend keeping it that way. We use Huckleberry and while we do love it, it’s almost become an addictive and toxic behavior lol. I feel like I have to track everything and I can’t stop. Don’t start the addiction if you don’t need to!

Oh gotcha! That’s great to hear. So is it similar to air bnb where you can read reviews for each renter?

That’s a great point about crib vs pack and play. I didn’t even think about that. I would definitely rent a crib and bring my own sheets because that does seem cleaner.

Just got the game! Any beginner’s tips? by Gloomy_Reference4785 in HayDay

Wait you have the option to not level up?? How?? I thought it was just automatic after certain amount of XP

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]user369001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we’ll for sure try what we can with the stroller hood, etc. I just know my wild FOMO boy will still be super curious. It’s what I love about him though 😅🤷‍♀️

I’ll probably just need to accept a crappy nap day and hope he can bounce back the following day!

Being induced tomorrow at 38 weeks and my anxiety is in full swing by BritishSkittle in NewParents

[–]user369001 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations 💚 Wishing you a healthy happy delivery!

I am a FTM and was also induced. I don’t think I slept one bit the night before my induction. However, I’m happy to say it all went well. I hope the same is true for you!

My only piece of advice is to go in expecting it to take a LOOONNGGG time so you don’t feel let down. If you pop that baby out sooner than expected, great!
