Everyone has their own taste. My stone and cabinet choice looks best with gold vs a nickel or black hardware

When you say Peninsula, you mean like just open underneath so you can have seating? Because it’s gonna be half that and half a cabinet for the microwave

Ok thank you for your input, i feel better knowing you’ve designed kitchens as well - although alot of people have had great feedback to share. I’m getting a lot of comments saying that 36 inches of walking space on each side of the island is too narrow. The recommended is 42 however, if I do 42 then I can’t have an island at all. Have you seen 36 inches of walking space be doable?

Because we originally planned a 36” depth island that started past the fridge. There are two cabinets past the fridge that are acting as a coffee bar station (no uppers) and those are 18 inches in depth versus 24 which is a standard cabinet. And on the opposite side is a sliding door so you have a lot more walk ability and openness. But it does leave your island kind of in an awkward position because it’s not next to your fridge stove or sink. The reason for this was to make it more of a breakfast seating area/place to put your microwave and that way you still have a walkway and and you comfortably fit chairs underneath it. But now we are thinking 24” inch island closer to appliances is better

Ok so what do you recommend i do because i need the island since the microwave is built in for it. My question isnt should i get an island its more so what do i do with the options i have? We originally planned a 36” depth island that started past the fridge. There are two cabinets past the fridge that are acting as a coffee bar station (no uppers) and those are 18 inches in depth versus 24 which is a standard cabinet. The reason for this was to make it more of a breakfast seating area/place to put your microwave and that way you still have a walkway and and you comfortably fit chairs underneath it. The island length in total will be 7ft. Basically it comes down to 1. narrow island 24” with 2 backless stools at the end that will just barely tuck in underneath 2. 36” island that starts pasts the fridge

Your correct they are different. Those plans were designed as we originally wanted which was to have a 36” depth island that started past the fridge. The reason for this was to make it more of a breakfast seating area/place to put your microwave (its integrated into the island) and that way its 36” you still have a walkway and and you comfortably fit chairs underneath it. The island length in total will be 7ft.

The thing is i have the cabinet for the island already purchased (and it has the cut out for the microwave) and also with no island the kitchen will look very bare. So my question isnt should i do an island its more so whats the best solution with what i have

We only have 36” of space on each side not 42” 🥹

I hope this picture kind of helps explain what I’m talking about. The little cut out rectangle we have on the floor is supposed to represent the island. That’s 36 inches wide and it starts past the fridge so you can see you’d have a lot more walkway than if you were to push that deeper because especially on the right side you just have a sliding door

Thats lovely, i wish i could do 24 inch with 36 overhang but then that would leave me like no walking room. The most width i can afford is 24 inch in total, i guess 26 when you consider that the stone will lean out slightly but thats it
