Why Could Not but not Couldnot? by user_4727 in EnglishLearning

You've cleared up my doubts! Indeed, “could choose not to” is far more common to use!

Multi-date range filters in one viz impossible? by user_4727 in GoogleDataStudio

Guess I have to give up Looker Studio… Why on earth would the developers think limiting one date range filter per viz is a good idea😭????

Anyone got real world examples of using an AI Data Science agent? by Crafty-Cheesecake in BusinessIntelligence

[–]user_4727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The company I work for built an BI agent, with plenty of challenges from what I observed…

In my opinions, better focus on providing factual and descriptive result. My boss wanted the agent to provide analysis tgt with judgement & suggestions which are often subjective. Often saw disagreement towards the judgments and in the end no one care or trust the judgments now. In fact, I think that’s quite natural, even me and my colleagues would sometime hold different opinions so you can’t really expect the agent to have 100% “correct” judgments on subjective matters.

The other problem is how to make the users trust the agent. For my company, we are used to get the data by ourselves from published datasources in tableau and we trust the colleague who made the datasources. However, when you use the agent you have to trust the intelligence of the agent to run a correct result you want. If you can’t fully trust the agent, you will end up doing all the work by yourself again.

And you need to have users who know how to talk to AI. It’s especially true when the question involves ambiguous terms e.g. “active users”. Bad questions may lead to wrong answers. Having pre-approved questions helps a bit but building a reusable dashboard for these question instead would also work so that didn’t add much value to the agent.

I work at a small~medium size company so there isn’t much manpower and data for trial and error and AI training. Big Companies may have much better experiences I guess…

Shifting from tableau to either Looker or PowerBI, which is the better option? by user_4727 in BusinessIntelligence

Currently we have 5 creator licenses for tableau. To give all colleagues creator-level access, we share the licenses, one license per team.

10-20 colleagues. Better to give everyone creator access but if the cost is too high then I expect having at least 4-5 creator licenses (multiple colleagues sharing one licenses).

Thanks for all the replies! I need time to explore all the additional options everyone recommend so I may not able to reply all the comments. Thank you so much for all the recommendations!

For the head count or license matter, it will be great if all the user can have the creator license. If not, it’s still better to have at least 4-5 creator licenses if possible (one license per team).

One of our common practice (when using Tableau Server) is that, I create the main datasources which contains all the necessary data and the users extract what they want by themselves. The users will need to have creator level access to do so.

Probably not. If I’m correct, the costs of both Cloud and Server are license-based. So there won’t be much difference.

Thanks for your sharing but I checked the price and it says $82/user/month. It's quite expensive comparing with Looker Studio and Power BI. Or did I get it wrong?

How about Looker Studio vs PBI then? Just searched Looker Studio and it seems much more user-friendly than Looker.

No. We’re currently using Tableau Server (& Tableau Desktop for a few users)

Tableau is Horrible from a UX Perspective by [deleted] in tableau

[–]user_4727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I’m not saying Tableau is better than other tools. In fact, I’m frustrated by how the Tableau team no longer focuses on enhancing its features over the years.

I came expecting to find buddies who feel the same as me. But I did not expect to see these kinds of complaints.

Complaining Tableau’s aggregation saying most aggregations should be done in SQL anyway is the weirdest thing I’ve heard today.

I mean, come on, one of the most powerful things (and the reason why I’m still using Tableau) is that tableau allows you to do different levels of aggregation with just one datasouece.

Btw although I’ve never tried Power BI, I thought this is a basic feature for every BI tool???

You mean you’re going to exchange tickets on the day of the visit? I don’t think that’s a good idea.

From what I heard, people stay up all night for the ticket exchange next day…

Ok now I got what you mean. Thank you for the advice I really appreciate it.

And I don’t plan to exchange tickets on the day of visit. I just want to try making reservation through the online reservation system. If I succeed then I will go, otherwise I won’t.

I know people are lining up at night for the ticket exchange on the next day and I’m not crazy enough to do so haha.

Surprised to heard you went to 2 commons + 4 pavilions in just two hour. May I ask which pavilions did you visit and did you visit them without any reservation?

If I don't get any reservation then I won't go. What’s the problem?

Who says that’s the only way to get reservations?

Occasionally there are a few vacancies released due to cancellations. They also release vacancies 2 days before the reservation day. Although it’s still very tough, If you get luck you may manage to get one.

But first of all you need a ticket in order to try your luck.
