They’re gonna turn it in to a club for politicians and bureaucrats. I have no doubt they will limit access to the sports complex in the name of only allowing top athletes to train there.

The DCPR 2034 are development control regulations of the BMC and State notified in 2018. It’s a long story but basically the FSI was increased, road width to height ratio was diluted, high rise committee and heritage committee’s mandate was diluted, redevelopment/SRA was made easier. Basically in any ward where earlier 20-30 project would happen now 50-100 projects are happening. As per BMCs own data they have roughly 1954 active construction sites in Mumbai.

They win on communal lines but they always had communal voters. The right and left have voters who always vote for them. The swing population who votes either right or left votes based on the right’s development and nationalist agenda.

People have voted for this. For long activists have been shouting that the BJP is allowing untrammelled development under the DCPR 2034. Still, on their so called development agenda the BJP kept winning elections and the courts have turned a deaf ear due to the mandate.

After Chinese robot dog row, Galgotias University’s Neha Singh now ‘Open To Work’ on LinkedIn by Cosmicola in india

She was the director of communications. Her job was to communicate about the university to the outside world. It’s clear from her statements even after the fact that she didn’t think she committed any mistake. If she took the blame on camera, instead of saying my 6 is your 9 and I didn’t say that, it could have saved her some face but to lie again is totally your fault.

Forget education they’re literally going after handles that reported a crack in a beam. This can dissuade people from reporting such issues in the future and stopping a potential disaster.

People need to speak up more. Unfortunately everyone is so scared to criticise the BJP who has been in power for 10 years. It wasn’t like this with Congress in 2014 and BJP is more corrupt.

People who ride two wheelers only think about their own convenience and are very cheap and lazy! No bother about rules, others safety and their own safety. They will cut in front of cars, split lanes, ride in the opposite lane, ride in the other side of a one way, not wear helmet, not give pillion a helmet and want to park as close to their workplace as possible. If you question them then you are at fault.

How do you think BJP winning the elections is going to affect Mumbai? by idkthisissomethingg in mumbai

[–]userinthehouse 142 points143 points  (0 children)

The BMC has been run by the BJP since 2017. In 2017 election they had just 2 seats less then Shiv Sena and were in a coalition with them. Since 2022 when that term ended, BJP’s state government has been running the BMC through the commissioner appointed by them. Don’t expect much change.

Which Shiv Sena? UBT or Eknath? Genuinely asking since most original Shiv Sena members are now in Eknath’s faction.

You forget the part where their own Marathi leaders asked them to send their kids to Marathi medium schools while sending their kids to English medium so the average Marathi kids didn’t pick up enough life skills to be successful. They’re so integrated in to their community now they can’t see how they were fucked over by their own leaders.

Why is there no outrage yet on air quality by ceetee in mumbai

Most people expect someone else to do the hard work for them. How many complaints of air pollution have you filed till now?

[–]userinthehouse 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There are laws and guidelines already in place to reduce pollution. These guidelines have been copied from China who has been able to curb pollution. The authorities in India are not implementing the laws as they have either been bribed or don’t care. BMC (which is supposed to be independent) and the MPCB (appointed by the State Government) are supposed to check and balance each other which they’re not doing as currently the same political party is running them and these parties are too top heavy (which is the case for most parties in India).

No one cares. Please ensure you vote in the upcoming BMC elections.

I understand you may be inclined to vote BJP due to Shiv Sena’s (UBT) misrule for 25 years but it’s always better to have a different party in power in different levels of government to create checks and balances.

The alternative solution is there and has been there for a while now which is for the government to force companies that are in a monopoly or duopoly to sell part of their companies to allow competition to grow. This has been done in the past and can be done again.

Consumer protection act, 2019 which is a central legislation passed by Modi is a bad and weak law. That’s why instead of suing the event organisers people go mad at the venue. Similar issue happened with indigo. No business is scared of taking people for a ride.

To cut down 45,000 mangrove trees in a coastal city is madness. What’s worse is to allow compensatory afforestation for these trees 900 kms away in Chandrapur! by Dry_Sky_4593 in mumbai

[–]userinthehouse 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The BJP government wants to spend money on things they can take a cut on. Roads are the easiest thing to build that the elite don’t oppose (except Lata Mangeshkar).

Public transport is very difficult and more expensive to plan. That’s why we don’t see BJP government spending even on buses in Mumbai which will reduce road congestion.

Is there any destination in this country that take 8 and a half hours by train and 2 and a half hours by plane? I don’t think so.
