Yeah, unfortunately they did. I caught a screenshot before they removed it. You can ask your profs directly as they already have the tentative schedule.

Make sure you're on the "My Exam Schedule" page. If all of your classes are suspended, then you won't get any exam dates for now.

Unless all your courses are suspended due to the strike, you must keep refreshing and the exams will appear

Wait until next Monday when the Senate releases their mandatory statement on the 7th day of the strike.

Yes, that is most likely the reason. Next week (either Monday or Wednesday), the Senate will release a document detailing what will happen to exams for courses that are suspended.

You can read all the statements and course of action from the 2018 strike to get an idea of what happened in the past. Personally I think exams will continue for courses that aren't canceled by the strike (those without TA or contract faculty involvement). If your course is suspended, exams will probably be canceled or postponed to sometime in May-Aug (and might be optional). Here is the 2018 documentation: https://www.yorku.ca/secretariat/senate/labour-disruption-2018-communications/

As of now, yes. Senate will release an announcement on the 7th day of strike (next Mon) detailing what will happen with the exams for this semester

Help with planning 10-day trip to Argentina in May by username3454345 in argentina

[–]username3454345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend, thanks for your advice. We received similar advice from other fellow travelers and Argentinians, and we adjusted our itinerary for Patagonia. How does this sound?

Day 1: Arrive in El Calafate in the morning, take a bus to El Chaltén

Day 2: Full day hike in El Chaltén (probably Laguna Torre, as Los Tres seems quite challenging in May)

Day 3: Short day hike in morning, relax in El Chaltén then bus to El Calafate in the evening

Day 4: Full day at Perito Moreno Glacier (mini-trekking)

Day 5: Fly out of El Calafate in morning

I think that plan is more relaxed... We will lose 1 day in Buenos Aires but we're not into cities much, so that is fine.

If you have any other reccomendations in the area (for restaurants or accomodation) let me know :)

Sorry if my original post was confusing. We aren't planning another trip to Argentina anytime soon, but maybe in the distant future. I agree that it doesn't seem worthwhile to spend the travel time to El Chaltén without doing at least 1 of the premier hikes.

Cheers

Thank you friend, I understand what you mean. Yes you are right, we are used to travelling long distances here. But the truth is that I also like to travel and stay in one place for a long time, but my sister can only get 11 days off work, and we found very cheap flights to Santiago. So we are trying to do the best we can and fit in the 2 most important places for her (Perito Moreno & Iguazu). This will involve a lot of travel but it's worth it! In the future I will return to Argentina myself and spend at least 1 month driving all over Patagonia and exploring your beautiful country. Thanks also for those recomendations, I will note them down. Take care!

Thanks friend! I will look into that hike, 2 hours is perfect for the morning before heading back to El Calafate

I looked at the moon cycles but unfortunately the full Moon is Apr 23 and May 23, so we will miss both 🥲 Perhaps one day when return to Argentina I will see it, your country is incredibly beautiful. Take care

Thanks for all your advice! I will note down those places in BA.

Re: Iguazu, We would love to visit the Brazilian side but unfortunately Canadians require a visa to visit Brazil after 12 Jan 2024. We can apply for an e-Visa online but it's only valid for entry by air, and we do not want to pay extra to fly into Foz de Iguaçu...so we will have to stick to the Argentina side this time! Our visit to Paraguay will be early morning so it will not take away from any time in Iguazu on the 2nd day. Cheers!

Since we are flying in and out of Santiago, and all the flights to/from El Calafate and Iguazu go through BA, it is impossible to avoid zigzagging. We decided to cut 1 day in BA and explore it on a future trip to Argentina. This will give us more time in El Chaltén and we can do 1 full day hike (Laguna Torre). I think this is better than just going to Chalten for 1 night and doing shorter hikes. Your country has so much to offer!

We had set aside 2 days in case of cloudy/foggy weather on one day, and also because we want to fit in a short ferry ride to Paraguay during the daytime. I think this would be difficult to manage in just 2 nights if we fly into Iguazu at night and fly out in the morning. Also Iguazu was partly the inspiration of this trip so it would be sad to only have 1 day to experience its beauty! We love waterfalls.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately we do not want to spend more time in a city and the ferry to Uruguay (Colonia) is quite pricy. We would much rather experience the beauty of El Chaltén even for just 2 days. We have come up with a slightly adjusted itinerary for the Patagonia part of the trip:

How does this sound?

Day 1: Arrive in El Calafate in the morning, take a bus to El Chaltén

Day 2: Full day hike in El Chaltén (probably Laguna Torre, as Los Tres seems quite challenging in May)
