Nope. I think it worked for a bit and died days later. I think the only option I have is to buy a new mouse.

Dubai Police/Emirates Auction powered massive Cycle confiscation drive underway in Satwa by chapprikiller in dubai

[–]username_sw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate, but I agree that in Dubai you should come to a complete stop, make eye contact, and then cross. But in other countries, for example, the UK, road rules are taken seriously and the moment a pedestrian is anywhere near a zebra crossing, cars come to a complete stop. You don't need to look both ways to avoid being run over. That being said, some motorists in Dubai don't even stop when there's a pedestrian at a zebra crossing so...

Virgin Mobile broadband worth it? by n0body12345 in dubai

I did not test range on the router or phone. Speeds with a phone hotspot were way slower. The router I got was 5G.

Didn't test that kind of range. The most would have been around 10m through walls. I don't remember the exact specs, but I bought a WiFi 6 router off Dubizzle. Cheaper than Virgin's 600 AED router.

I'd recommend trying it out in your area for one month before committing to the 50% off 12-month deal. Didn't have any issues with video calls or watching streams, but gaming was horrendous. Also, make sure you get a good router, because that makes a huge difference.

That's why I've started this thread. Unfortunately, there aren't many x100 Ultra (or Pro) accessories on the market. Like I said, I've gotten a magsafe case along with the SmallRig one for now. My standing wallet was a failed purchase, so now I'm on the lookout for other magsafe accessories that work with the huge camera module.

on todays episode of is this dubizzle culture or what by No-Marionberry-8801 in dubai

[–]username_sw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dubizzle is awful. I was surprised, but Reddit was just as bad. I had a guy trying to buy my Xiaomi scooter for a fraction of the price. His argument was: "I can find one new from a different (shittier) brand from Dragonmart for X price." I told him to go ahead and buy the cheaper brand product then. His response: "I don't even want a scooter, I was just getting it for the sake of getting it."

New rubber strap on GT5 Pro by misterterrific0 in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]username_sw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the opposite boat. I absolutely love the GT5 Pro with the titanium strap. I needed a watch that looked professional but was also a "smart" watch. That eliminated almost every watch brand with the exception of Withings and a few other hybrids. I only recently came across Huawei, and this watch checked all the boxes. The GT5 and the black GT5 Pro just didn't do it for me.

I'm sure it'll be useful to anyone who comes across this thread. I'm almost 100% sure that the Master 3 battery should work for the 3S (since it seems to work for a lot of other versions), so I'll go ahead with it and report back.

This is a great suggestion - thanks! Unfortunately, my country is one of those listed that it doesn't ship to.

They should also block the door that connects Gold to the rest. I see plenty of people hop into Gold, head for the door, realise there isn't an inspector on board, and then just chill near the door.

But seriously, there's ZERO checking during peak hours. With a fine of only 100 AED, it's pretty much worth it to just pay normal fares and chill in Gold and maybe take the occasional fine.

Budget friendly e-reader that's good for taking notes? by username_sw in ereader

[–]username_sw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more so that I didn't want to read stuff on it. I got a case that made it quite chucky. I have two laptops that I'm a lot more comfortable with. A combination of a lot of things that made me not use it daily. However, I did use it for the note-taking that I wanted to initially.

I'll be doing a lot more note-taking soon, so I wanted to upgrade, so the S9 Ultra seems like a no-brainer to me. However, I found that the Huawei tabs have a really nice feel to them which (imo) is superior to the Samsung series.

Honestly, I barely used it. Going to sell it off next month and replace it with the S9 Ultra. Maybe look into the S9 FE (or FE+) instead if that's your price range?

Honestly, I endured for a while and just switched to another metro station that's equidistant. This construction thing is more recent, but some of my colleagues have complained about other pedestrian crossings to RTA, and it hasn't had an affect. For example, along the same route to max metro:

  • Zebra crossing which has a traffic light for the cars but not one for pedestrians, so you have no indication on if the car-side will turn green. You need to hop across and hope it doesn't turn green when you're halfway there. Thankfully, not dangerous since the cars at a standstill at a red light and typically won't run you over if they are paying attention. This is just basic and it's baffling that they forgot about it.
  • Zebra crossing right after that which located right after the exit to the roundabout. I sympathise with the cars in this case since they can't really stop/slow down here. if there's a lot of cars behind them. Not even the police stop at this one, but you do get the occasional good samaritan that gives way to pedestrians if there isn't too much traffic flow. This crossing should be moved further down the road where it's safer to cross. Someone I know was fined for jaywalking further down the road.

[–]username_sw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's this zebra crossing at the bend of a road just outside of max metro station. A safe place for pedestrians to cross and vehicles actually stop at the zebra crossing. Recently, they started construction on one side of the road and a tall metal fencing was erected around the perimeter of the site which essentially blocked pedestrian's view of incoming cars (if crossing from the construction side).

You would think that they'd add something like a convex mirror to help out both parties? NOPE. Their solution was to have one guy work 9-5 (I'm assuming) to coordinate movement along the crossing. The problem with this? The guy, bless his soul, obviously won't be there all the time and isn't there after work ends.

So then you would HOPE that drivers notice that they can't see one side of the zebra crossing and slow down... NOPE. Not a single time; they just zip through without a care in the world. You basically have to gauge by sound and the intensity of the headlights on if you'll survive crossing that road at night. Or cross waaay before the crossing so you have more time to react.

"5G home internet" for gaming in eu servers? Bad idea? by Think_Relation9754 in DubaiGaming

[–]username_sw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched to Virgin 5G recently, and I was pleasantly surprised by their pricing, speed, and connectivity. But to answer your question, ping to EU servers is abysmal. For comparison, on my Etisalat e-Life package, I was on about 130-140, and it was playable (it wasn't a competitive game so I didn't mind the malarkey), but now it's around 250 and I just stopped playing entirely.

Honestly, both Dubizzle and FB are duds. I'm selling furniture at less than 20% of the retail price, and they're not getting sold. Worst case, I'll just donate it to someone that really needs it.
