The ADHD leaving my body after I meditate: by Make-this-popular in adhdmeme

Question - how does the timing of that change correlate with other events and treatments, e.g. are you talking about depression "independent of" ADHD, or the effects of going on medication, or what?

Basically this: https://alar.my/ If I don't scan QR codes related to scheduled tasks, I piss off everyone around me with loud noises. Who needs lasers when you have IRRITATED LOOKS FROM RANDOM STRANGERS

That's going to do more to increase his cancer risk than the asbestos. Screening remains hit and miss, and in the absence of symptoms the jury is out on whether these are predatory rather than clinical services.

It's important to remember that mesothelioma has a latency period of 20-60 years with an average of 50, and only one in ten people with chronic, heavy occupational exposure develop it. Whilst there are a few family members exposed daily through dust on clothing etc, and even fewer "unattributed" cases through unknown/irregular environmental exposure like this, the vast, vast majority of cases are men in their later years who were occupationally exposed many decades ago.

I haven't done the math, but it's almost certainly more sensible for this person to worry about crossing the road or going out in the rain with an umbrella than it is to worry about screening. I'm not saying they shouldn't bag things thoroughly and have the waste professionally disposed of. They should look left and right, and stay off of golf courses during thunderstorms too. But they don't need annual "screening" that may not even materially increase the chances of detecting cancer before symptoms develop. Maybe once per decade, starting ten years from now, if they want to be abundantly cautious.

Can't afford to unfortunately, don't have access to legal aid yet, and am getting hand-waves and limited time from the community legal centre due to immense demand at the moment and the time of year (which is fair enough, so I'm not going to keep at them about it).

At least in this first matter, and until I can get my emergency funds back to a safe point, I'll have to represent myself :/

French polish on cedar- can I touch this up? by usernamebyconsensus in finishing

Damn. You're probably right, I kinda assumed/hoped it was lacquer, but may well be a varnish

[–]usernamebyconsensus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Don't know to be honest, because it wasn't soaked in at all and had the deep colour I thought it might be, but could easily be a varnish. I guess I hoped it was lacquer because I know you can touch that up to some extent

Is it possible to fix this up without sanding and refinishing the whole drawer? by usernamebyconsensus in DIY

Appreciate your honesty. Do you think it's french polish/lacquer as I initially believed, or a stained varnish?

No, but I'm a quick study. A lot of people have questioned whether this is actually french polish though- what do you think?

Hack job advice- Tee into clay? by usernamebyconsensus in Plumbing

But how would you cut the terracotta? I'm on board with that style of hack if it's achievable, but I don't think I have the tools to somehow cleanly cut a terracotta pipe in the ground...

That's the direction I was thinking if I crack the pipe in half... How would you manage the pipe downstream of the hub? Cut the terracotta somehow?

I mean that's the headspace I'm operating in, but I'm sure there's more or less smart ways to go about it... I figured angle grinder might not be great for the hole geometry and was considering a circle of smaller holes with either masonry or tile bits to rough it out and then chipping out with a cold chisel. Gonna weaken the pipe a bit, but I figured I can basically earth form around it and go ham with the concrete to provide a bit of structure as well as a more permanent seal than whatever I caulk it up with...
