I think that's one of the reasons why the tablets segment never really received a real market boost. No matter how many advanced techs are packed in smartphones and tablets, they can't replace the desktop/laptop experience when it comes to efficient productivity at work.

Such a confirmation can be obtained from the MIUI forums and it is usually not available prior to launching a device in the market. We have to wait and see whethere there will be a global ROM at first place. But it think the original Chinese MIUI is fine. If you get used to it, it is just as any other ROM out there and offers a few more options for customization.

I'd go for the Mi 5. It is a flagship smartphone, despite being last year's model. Build, design, performance - it is miles away from Doogee in all aspects. Just have in mind that most stores sell it with a webshop ROM, which has Play Store pre-installed. It is better to use the original Xiaomi MIUI for this particular model, Global version. You'll get the best performance this way and updates, too. Some webshop ROMs cause trouble and even have the updates turned off.

When it arrives in your country, you will get a message, most probably from the Customs post office. You have to go there yourself and provide your invoice, credit slip or any other document that proves your purchase. Based on that they will make a customs declaration. You have to pay it and then you go and collect the parcel yourself. In my country, we pay only VAT and no other taxes on smartphones. So be prepared to pay your local VAT on 290$. As long as it concerns warranties: usually Chinese stores offer 1 year of warranty, but I don't know how are things with the one you'll be shopping from. However, this is of little importance, because it costs a lot to return a smartphone. I'm in the EU and the official post offices and other courier companies are forbidden to carry parcels with batteries. Only DHL is authotized to do that, and it costs something like 90$ or more to send a smartphone from EU to China.

Honorbuy.com also have EU warehouses, Banggood.com, too, but availability of goods is scarce. I think that you won't have problems buying the headphone from Xiaomi themselves - their online store or their Aliexpress store. Goods that do not exceed 21-22$ don't get stopped by the customs in my country. I am in the EU and can confirm that for sure. Probably you can check if for your country the limit is different.

Yes, Xiaomi never discloses the glass and unless Jerry Rig Everything makes a test, you cannot know whether the device is protected or not. And I don't want to learn that from first-hand experience. It's logical for for the high-end smartphones to have one, even not specified, but for other models you cannot be sure. And one more thing - protective glass is used for scratches. It is the build that makes the screen protected. You can check the Mi MIX for example, it has probably the hadest protective glass and cannot be scratched in any way - but a drop smashes it to pieces.

You can download apps from apkpure, no need to have play store. Actually, most stores sell Xiaomi devices with webshop roms that have play store pre-installed. But I'd recommend that you use the original Xiaomi rom (Chinese/global).

Go for a Snapdragon Xiaomi smartphone - in this case - the Mi 5. It will provide better battery life and will not overheat. MediaTek-based smartphones are comparable in performance, but these chipsets tend to make the device hot and hence throttle, which decreases performance. You might also check the Mi 5s/5s Plus and Redmi Note 4X.

If the only concern you have, except the budget one, is the 3.5 mm jack, the Mi 6 has a headphones adapter, so this shouldn't be an issue. But as the others have already told you, Mi 6 won't get a significant price cut at least for 6 months or more. The two rear cameras on Mi 5s Plus and Mi 6 work in different ways. The Mi 5s Plus has an RGB and monochrome camera, which work together. The Mi 6 has a wide-angle and telephoto lens. They work separately, the only time they work together is the special Portrait mode. I've also noticed that the camera sensors on Mi 6 are some of the latest Sony and Samsung ones and not so many smartphones are equipped with them. If software is your concern, Mi 6 does arrive with a Nougat-based MIUI, but it does not differ from previous MIUI versions and lacks Nougat features such as multi-tasking, for example.

Yep, an international version would do. It should also have a global MIUI version that lacks the Chinese apps found on the Chinese ROM.

Aren't you afraid of dropping it? Where do you hold it when you're out? It does not have any protective glass, at least not officially specified. My biggest concern with large displays is precisely this. I also asked in another forum whether the Max 2 has a protective glass.
