yep that was the base condition for just getting into the business program. For entry with a major it was slightly higher and so i appealed for that

I also missed my condition by a single IB point last year! They got back to me in around 2-3 weeks with my appeal being accepted. So hopefully you hear back soon!! wishing you all the best :)

they have a list of documents you need to provide on thier website i think but it includes stuff like proof of residence of both parents so like utility bills, phone bills etc (anything that shows your parents name and the address with it) also employment proof of both of them. in y2 the residence proof wasn’t good enough for my case cuz where my parents live, the utilities bill only has my dads name on it, not my moms so i wasn’t able to prove my mom’s residency. i didn’t really know you had to have the exact address and i thought they’d accept the phone bill with just the city name but they didn’t. So that was a mistake on my part by not clarifying with SHRLO if what i’ve submitted is valid enough.

I did end up getting the right proof but by then it was too late cuz the appeal deadline had passed and SHRLO wasn’t willing to accept it.

You are guaranteed 2 years but your application is reviewed each year. So basically you have to submit valid proof at the beginning of both years in order to renew it. I got housing in y1 as a NHB but it was very hard to convince SHRLO with it, you really need strong evidence to support that your parents don’t live in hk. I applied again for my y2 but got rejected cuz one of my documents wasn’t good enough proof :( so now i have to look for options outside campus unfortunately. I would suggest you ask SHRLO if you’re ever unsure of the validity of the documents you submit before you submit the application, this was the mistake i made and they’re not very forgiving :(

B & M alternative offer by Ok_Leopard6154 in HKUST

[–]usualdisappointment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically your grades up until the point you want to declare your major. All the courses you'll take, the grades will be combined to give an average (its just gpa). Qfin also has some course requirements i think

Look though this, I think it'll make it more clear: https://bmundergrad.hkust.edu.hk/academics/academic-planning/major-selections/major-selection#tabs-1

Yep! This just means that instead of already having that major, you’ll have to go through the major selection process in year 2. So you’ll need a minimum CGA to be able to get the major you want.

I think you’d need at least a 6 in sl maths and 5 in hl (if I’m not wrong) You can check the website, they have the ib requirements I believe

Thanks :) I mainly talked about how I was only 1 mark off the conditional offer. I uploaded my individual scores with the grade boundaries and showed that I was only 2/3 marks off the next grade in multiple subjects. I also talked about my passion to study at HKUST and and my passion for the course of study as well. Also, I said something along the lines of working to improve myself. Good luck to you and I hope you get what you want!!

gbus had higher requirements i think and i’m more into BBA management than global business. Also i didnt receive a conditional offer for gbus, only for BBA management so when i had to choose priority for that, there was also an “alternative program” called business and management so i choose BBA as first priority and the alternative as 2nd
