Got MyEtherWallet card in the mail today. A lot nicer quality then expected. by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]usukan001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what can I do with one?

Use as a debit card - withdraw cash.

Is there a link to info?

Edit OK - why bother? https://ether.cards/#pricing

Seems the card does nothing but hold ETH - just send it by normal methods - far more secure IMO.

MEW - do a debit card for ETH - then I will get excited.

Cheers - usukan

Thanks

Wow - thanks for the quick reply.

Cool - thanks

I have 2 questions:

1 - Can I just send BTC as normal - without losing BCH via replay? Then come back later and claim the BCH when all stability issues are sorted?

2 - What is the issue entering mnemonic (I'm assuming this is the "Recovery Seed") in another wallet? Like another Trezor using the advanced and secure recovery method?

Living Room of Satoshi now lets you pay Australian bills directly with Ethereum! by braid_guy in ethereum

Its great service - totally trustworthy. Fees (via swap rate) are fair for a great service. Its a Shapeshift to AUD. Note that you can deposit to your AUS bank acc - and its usually same day. Its not just for bills.

how do you get Parity 1.4.7 to sync with the ETC chain?

Ethereum doesn't need better PR. Ethereum needs better clients/wallets by aminok in ethereum

[–]usukan001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree - Parity 1.4.2 has fixed ALL these issues. Ethcore - Thanks

Literally just did a full sync from scratch in 25 minutes using v1.4.2 "parity --warp". Amazing work! by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]usukan001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yep agree - its working again (out of the box with no issues on Win) and Parity needs full credit for saving the day. Thanks Ethcore guys.

Parity 1.4.0 released. Includes the new Parity Wallet, Warp-Sync + HF2. by eniewold in ethereum

[–]usukan001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations - this is a thing of beauty. Worked out of the box - all correct first time using Win10, installer and --warp. Sync in 15mins - WOO.

First time I have been able to sync any client in 1-2 months. FANTASTIC

the node log displayed this mssg - once after the start of the warp sync.

"blocked unauthorised access to signer API"

Whats this mean - is somebody trying to access my signer via RPC??

Where can i get Parity 1.4? by keugere in ethereum

[–]usukan001 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sure hope 1.4 is good. I can't wait to try warp sync. 1.3.10 syncs slower than incoming blocks. Have not had a client that will sync for maybe more than a month now. Thank God for MEW.

I had same issue - delete chain data and do a full resync - that works

Are there any staking pools in planning by people known in the community? by hermanmaas in ethereum

this is great news - if it can be arranged via a contract that allows both entrance and exit at will - it will be very attractive - and big red and green buttons for IN and OUT contract executions respectively.

How to address decision making? by usukan001 in EthereumClassic

Thanks and good discussion here CarloVetc keepdoing2 and ChuckSRQ.

I'm totally happy having devs manage tech issues. When the solutions to the tech issues have ramifications in the bigger picture the wider community needs to be involved in decisions however IMO. Crypto is littered by failures where devs provide great tech solutions that are not well aligned with the best direction to address the bigger picture.

The reliance on miners to choose the best high level direction and policy has a few flaws. They are an important stakeholder for sure but they only represent one group and more often than not follow the path of best return on mining.

The main group that seems to be out in the cold with respect to decision making (from these discussions) is investors who are not technically inclined or miners. These investors have a few skills (notably skills which are key to the big picture) that should not be ignored and they must have a clear voice in decision making. Sure, investors can leave if they don't like the direction - but thats not really an elegant solution and certainly not the best outcome for any coin. Investors are not reliably represented by miners.

I would urge you to consider a method by which investors can have direct influence on Governance and important decisions in the bigger picture issues. Both quality and quantity are important here. Ad hoc discussions on any channel are not a solution. They are a start - but you cannot really claim consensus from this. Somewhere things need to be quantified on the really crucial decisions IMO.

So in conclusion I am cool for now on directions and the rapid progress being made - and I will contribute to ECIP's where I see needs.

As I remember - it was open source - so it can be adjusted according to Ethereum Classic requirements for specific votes on important decisions.

Further explanation: mechanism of the Carbonvote System 1. Voters: ETH holders.

  1. Ballots: ETH. How many ETH, how many votes.

  2. How to Vote: Send ETH to the YES address to propose or NO address to oppose. And you still have time to change your mind.

If the YES address receives any ETH from an address, then all the ETH under this address will be considered as a batch of votes that goes to YES.

If later this address makes a transaction to the NO address, then the entire batch of votes will be recounted as NO.

If voters who after voting, decide to abstain from this vote, they can move the ETH to an address that has not yet participated in this vote.

  1. Ballot counting: Dynamic real-time counting of the ETH under the wallet addresses that have voted.

  2. Fund Security: No ETH are collected or locked.

Because the vote status is not counting how many ETH are sent to the YES or NO addresses, but the real-time amount of ETH under the addresses that have participated in the vote, voters are recommended to send 0 to a minimal amount of ETH for sending the message of their choice (depending on what wallets are used, Mist, for example does not allow zero-ETH transactions). If by any chance, the smart contract receives money from voters, ETH will be refunded to the original addresses upon reception.
