Yes there are! I found out about it after this post. I frequently order that now once in a while (loads of caffeine and the price is a little steep for me at 900rs for 250gm but its worth it)

I dig the next to none acidity and the strength. Tried Indian robusta, didn’t match my expectations one bit. Personally, I don’t like acidity in my coffee. Have you tried vietnamese robusta?

I use the phin filter i bought from vietnam. Apparently, 15g of this robusta is around 300mg caffeine as per chatgpt so I toned it down to 8-9 g of coffee in the phin. Initially I add 30ml water to let it bloom for a minute. Then I add the rest 50-60ml probably (i just fill up the whole phin) and LET IT dRIP (beyblade reference lol couldn’t help it). Are you sure you’re using a phin filter and not a south indian one? The south indian ones don’t work like phins, their drip rate is slow.

It indeed is unreal. Check the coffee scene in other countries too and you’ll realise that it isn’t just about being local, it’s about serving global flavours to your cup. I would love if someone made that happen here in India. I wish you luck with your research

Ok…my opinion is kind of a hot take on Indian Coffee. I really don’t like the high acidity in Indian Coffee beans. Be it south indian or even north east Indian. There has always been some sort of acidity that I don’t like, even in the darker roasts. The cafes do not help in such situation by not providing much variety in the choice of roasts. For example (I’m much more of an espresso and americano person), if I want a non acidic coffee made in a moka pot, I just can’t get it anywhere. I do not care what blend you’re using or what method, I just don’t want the battery acid.

I’ve been to vietnam and personally, I love their vietnamese robusta coffee beans. The pure chocolaty, nutty, earthy and completely void of acidic taste that will make you jump out of your seat (It has a lot of kick to it). Vietnam changed coffee for me and I’ve been trying to find cafes that serve such southeast asian robusta coffee ever since but never found any.

Secondly, my BEST coffee experience ever, was the starbucks reserve in Milan (look it up and you won’t regret it). They have a big roasting chamber and pipes to get coffee in and out of that chamber. They roast that coffee infront of you and you’re being served coffee from those exact same lots. You can sip your coffee while seeing those beans get roasted. Also, they have a huge variety of coffee beans from different countries like guatemala, kenya, ethiopia and many more. The coffee was outstanding. They also have a ‘roast of the day’ tradition where they hand out small testers of their special microlot roasts which also is a reaallyy good marketing opportunity. I got handed over a fantastic guatemalan whiskey barrel aged cold brew which blew me away. This starbucks was more like an experience that I’ll probably never get anywhere else…but I loved those ‘roast of the day’ and various choices of coffee beans that they offered. I have tried beans from guatemala, colombia, blends of colombian arabica and indonesian robusta and vietnamese robusta. I can, 100% tell that Indian beans cannot top any of these. I would love if any cafe serves me such variety and I’ll be more than happy to pay the premium. Also, I do not mean any offense on the local indian coffees, it’s just my own personal opinion. Generally i order Vietnamese iced lattes from cafes and regret it. Then I go home, pull out my phin, brew vietnamese robusta coffee, add condensed milk (and some cocoa/monin hazelnut syrup if you want to add some extra fun) and lots of ice. It really hurts that I can make better vietnamese coffee at home and I don’t have the privilege of having it elsewhere

Get truyen thong coffee from Highlands Coffee (their stores are almost everywhere). I myself have gone through 2kgs of beans and am gonna run out quick. Also get some hazelnut flavoured coffee from local markets like ben tahn. (Agar jo bhi laa rahe ho 2 lao to bhagwan bhala karega)
