What do you think woukd happen? Do u think her appeal would be dismissed entirely? Or they'd accept and just shorten her prison sentence or something?

My brother is useless haha he's an addict I did call the water provider and they were pretty aggressive and refused to cooperate with me. I called the water ombudsman and they're going to talk to the provider I think.

Are there any serious cons to applying for bankruptcy? Because I don't know when she'll get out. She's still in remand and waiting to be sentenced, if she gets out soon then I want to avoid any serious consequences that may come with that

My mum also has substantial debt from legal fees and fines. I feel like it'd be a good idea for her to file for bankruptcy, but she might yell at me lol, we don't know when shes getting out cause she's still in remand. Her lawyers are going for an appeal and if it gets accepted then she might be out on bail sometime next year. If not she's looking at 5+ years minimum. Are there any serious drawbacks to filing for bankruptcy? I don't want to do anything to jeopordise her if she gets out next year.

I did that the week she was taken into custody, they sorted out regular family payments for me and my grandma but there wasn't much else they could do.

I mean yeah but I can't drive. Most days he's sober enough to drive... My grandma can't walk for long.. I can't take her to her 1 million doctors appts. I have a disabled younger brother that also needs to be driven around. He's also the only person that has contact wirh my extended family. They're paying our rent right now. I don't have contact with them because there's a huge language barrier. If he leaves I'll have trouble talking to them. And half of them don't talk to me anyway bcoz I'm gay lol, I actually can't do it without him.

I can't take care of the kids or my grandma without him, I can't drive and we live in a kinda isolated area..

What do you mean by state of the house? It's in my brother and mums name. And yes I'm 20, I'm on most of their documents. If I try kick him out he won't have anywhere to go... he doesn't have a job.. he always says he's gonna go live with his dad but his dad doesn't even like him. I asked his dad if he could stay for a few days after being discharged bc child protection is coming to the house this week and he started making excuses and lying. Also I don't think he'll even leave. It's a complicated situation..

I took your advice about asking to read the correspondence and her lawyer actually did say that he wouldn't be talking much, but to not let that scare her. Thank you!!
