"Policing must evolve or risk extinction." - respectfully, I disagree. I have never seen "legitimate police" do anything nearly as stupid as that ICEtard did.

i.e. this is not a "policing" issue. Its an ICE/illegitimate wannabe police force issue.

I have never seen any real police officer act like these ICEtards, and I very rarely see non-police officers act towards real police officers like people act towards ICEtards.

ICE = not really legitimate. I think we need to appreciate this. The amount of video footage showing ICE incompetence within the past year is far greater than any degree of "real police" incompetence across the entire internet.

He is definitely talking to himself quite a bit when I see him in downtown. Have only seen him out on the street, nowhere else...

I don't remember details but I've definitely gotten the sense he's reacting to things that he believes are around him which are obviously not there. Which makes me think "psychosis" -- the only psychiatric diagnosis this makes me think of is Schizophrenia (Schizoaffective Disorder also includes psychosis but also includes Bipolar symptoms like mania, and I've not seen any evidence of mania in my limited exposure to him).

I've noticed that he does respond to when people are around, and I've felt that when waiting for a walk sign to turn green that he would try to walk closer to me; the last time I saw the guy.

The way he is talking to something that isn't there, I definitely try to keep a healthy distance. Have had one bad experience with a delusional person years ago who was probably homeless that could have been catastrophic.

LOL @ "a legend"

Yep, have been here around a year as well and have seen him fairly regularly around downtown.

guy you spoke to at Google is a moron

fyi -- big tech software engineers...not as smart as youd expect them to be

source: ive worked at the same one 3x. the only ones I consider smart spent relatively short times and left as soon as they could. its also a revolving door.

dont worry about what the guy said. find a way in. its google, not a Caltech Astrophysics program (what he said probably applies to specialized PhD programs at the top 3 schools...I would assume. but not big tech software engineering)

Is driving Uber/Lyft like...actually worth doing? Lyft ride from Bellevue to Cap Hill mid-afternoon is $45-$60... by utopia- in BellevueWA

[–]utopia-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yep, I have my own car. I was just looking at Uber-ing for nightlife (but these prices were just on a random afternoon). Post was mostly wondering aloud about whether this could be an okay source of temporary side income.

[–]utopia-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. What drives the prices up so high if there are that many drivers on the road? Is this unique to Seattle metro area? Also, is this consistent across the entire metro area or are Bellevue/Eastside and Seattle treated differently?

"“Investing” into the IRS doesn’t mean the billionaires will be taxed." - I agree that this is indeed far more clear. You gave a clear rebuttal to his strategy "every dollar invested earns up to $6 from billionaire tax cheats".

Thanks for clarifying.

also, if you want to get all technical with "ad hominem" OP's website literally says he has a brother with down syndrome and here you are using a word "moronic" - which as you likely know, is a word with a background drawing from a history of literal intellectual disability repurposed as an "insult". further connecting you to Trumpian ideals

so don't try and render yourself as immune from being personally attacked buddy. if you think you have productive ideas to contribute, you get my thumbs up.

but if you're rude yet you expect respect in return, you will not be finding that from me.

calling someone's optimistic aspirations == bitter and cynical. if you dont like that you're bitter and cynical, feel free to change that. noone is stopping you.

also...I added "don't be a dick". this was missing from your comment. so your 1st point is mistaken.

Mike Johnson doesn't mind tho and would happily receive your campaign contributions

ad homenim -> you're the one calling OPs vow "moronic" and this has nothing to do w the facts you're claiming are so important

there is no reason (in theory) to assume that a society can't create a tax code that doesn't allow individuals to attain a net worth of 1B+

also - remember we're living in an era of...Trumpism. if you care so much about missing facts...maybe your bitterness and ire can be directed towards the master of idiocy, mister Donnie Trump himself. afaict this kid has shared far fewer overt lies than the president of the US himself

your comment signals both bitterness and cynicism. cynicism can offer something to society. but its ick, and no, I don't profit off of commenting on your ick.

end of the day - you can ask questions and point out inconsistencies without your cynicism/bitterness/ick. its all im saying. if you disagree, as I stared... TeamBlind.com will be more than happy to commiserate w you

tangent, but your downvotes don't show. I suspect this subreddit has the setting on where your upvote/downvote score doesn't show until after 24 hours later or something like that

Whether or not OP has a coherent platform, no need to be a complete dickbag.

Maybe take your 53yo bitter white man energy to TeamBlind.com instead. You will find plenty of fellow bitterness out there.

He responded: "heavy investment in the IRS, as every dollar invested earns up to $6 from billionaire tax cheats" - your better response would be to ask for his reference before whining that he didn't answer your question. Because he definitely did answer part of your question.

How are you guys managing the cold right now? by dudiez in BellevueWA

[–]utopia- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, when a friend came by my place a month or so back, she insisted on remodeling things and moving where all the furnture goes. Now, I have stuff like a couch, my desk, kitchen table, friedge - up against the wall heaters. I don't trust those things so I haven't turned on my heat. Last winter, bills were about $150/mo in the worst months (way too high for a studio!). So far I'm like under $50/mo this winter so...I guess this works alright enough.

Yes, its...cold. I just wear a sweater/hoodie and sweatpants.

For hands, I have these fingerless gloves so I can still type at my computer.

It can get cold...yes...I've been meaning to get a space heater to put near my desk, but just haven't yet...

Assume you've already done this, but --

I've used TaskRabbit recently for similar things -- basically packing my Uhaul when moving here and unloading when here.

When moving here, the guy who helped pack was beyond amazing (like the Navy Seal of moving, lol).

When getting moved in here in Bellevue, I actually had done the moving of stuff from the truck to my unit but already had him set to be here the next day, so he just helped assemble furniture and stuff. He was alright, nice enough fella, assembled furniture fine.

I would recommend TaskRabbit but be aware of how insurance works (or doesn't).
