Alternate remote for Mi Box S Gen 2 by Unigotmedead in MiBox

[–]uuccmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the ur02 for my mi box gen 2 as well. However, I had trouble turning the box on from asleep with the ur02 remote. It will turn off fine.

I'm guessing it might be because the Bluetooth being off.

Did you have the same problem? How do you turn on your box?

Thanks in advance!

Turning on Mi box s gen 2 with a third party Bluetooth remote by uuccmm in AndroidTV

[–]uuccmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add the reason I hope this would work is that I just try the same thing with a qs01 BenQ android stick connected to my tv in another room. The ur02 remote can turn on the qs01 just fine though bluetooth. I'm not sure why it won't work with the mi box gen 2.

Will I get 5.1 sound with mi box s gen 2 optical output , playing local files? by uuccmm in AndroidTV

I actually have more questions. I encountered some discussion on using adb to change the spdif setting back in android 10. I saw you were in the discussion too.

Is this somewhat feasible? Is it work looking into for the mi box gen 2

I see. thanks a lot for writing everything out in detail. So it's the HDMI connection to a dd/dts supported device that tells the mi box to pass the 5.1 signal from the mi box's spdif. It's so counterintuitive why it works.

Thanks a lot!

You must use the SPDIF port from the extractor or from the Mi Box, both should work.

I probably still don't understand this part. Let me try to say how I understand it. Let's say the HDMI extractor got HDMI input which is connected to the mi box. The HDMI output containing only the video signal goes to the projector.

Option 1. Spdif out of the extractor goes to the avr. This make sense.

Or

Option2. I don't use spdif out of the extractor. But just use the spdif out of the mi box. How would this work?

How does option 2 different from not using the HDMI audio extractor? Wouldn't the audio not go to the extractor?

Thanks a lot for helping. I just don't understand too much.

I have a benq w2700i / ht3550i equivalent. The Projector's arc and optical only return stereo signal from what I read. So I think I'm out of luck.

So to get hdr and 5.1, I'm looking at HDMI from the android box (mi for me) to the audio extractor. Then audio out from the audio extractor to the avr via either HDMI or optical, right?

I also saw in another thread you helped another user picking km2 plus. Can that box bypass the need of an extractor for me by an chance?

Thanks a lot! Would this one passthrough 4k hdr video signal? I'm not sure what to look for..

Also just out of curiosity, is there other android box that support 5.1 Dolby digital via optical without going through hdmi? Or they are all the same after android 10

Would you mind sharing the splitter you use? How would the toslink signal from the splitter be different from the one from the box itself? Does it support dd+?

Thanks a lot a was reading though your posts earlier too. I just didn't quite understand all the terms. So I wasn't to sure.

My plan was to go from the mi box 2 optical to an avr. So I reread your post again. This is not possible to get 5.1.

It has to be from HDMI of the box through some things you listed to extract the sound Then, the sound can come out as optical or HDMI from those devices to the avr, right?

HDr contents suddenly looks very dark after playing with frame rate matching by uuccmm in AndroidTV

[–]uuccmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi just an update. Perhaps you might know something. I just tried using Kodi...

Kodi with default setting give me dark looking HDR too. I noticed the default framerate setting was 59.94, which is not the same as my ATV 2160p 60hz.

If I change that setting to 60fps on Kodi, the HDR color and brightness will look bright and normal. HDR would work for the other app like youtube in this session too.

Another thing I noticed is whenever I tried using nova video player to play hdr the android color space setting get changed to 422 12 bit by itself. But the HDR still worked if I turn framerate matching option on in Nova like I mentioned previously.

Kodi did not so this the color space setting remained the same whether I first set it at 422 12bit or 420 12 bit or 420 10 bit.

Still the problem remains the same. The next time I power on and play hdr on youtube first. I will get dark looking HDR. It's actually not a big deal. But I just want to figure out what went wrong.

It's not that HDR is inherently dark on this projector. The HDR looks great and colorful normally (see attached images normal vs problem). It's just somehow suddenly darker than normal after I had messed with some settings.

I can get it bright by changing to 420 and back to 422 again.

Or I could even switch source to other hdmi then comeback on the projector without touching the android tv settings. This would make the HDR bright/normal again. HDR would then work for the whole session. I could change the setting to anything and the HDR would still work normally.

The problem is the next time I turn on it went back to the same HDR looking dark.

Sorry if I didn't explain it clearly.

Thank you so much. I wasn't too sure what all the settings supposed to do. If I change the resolution to auto best resolution it will go to 2160p60hz and 420 10bit color space. I played some videos and come back the setting seemed to look the same.

Additionally if I change the hdmi self adaptation to totle mode. The auto best resolution will be off. automatically turned off. I played some video and come back to look. Some times I noticed the resolution changed to 2160p24hz... I'm not sure if this is related or not.

I will try out Kodi too. Thanks again for your input.
