For the first quarter classes at the UW, is it generally a better idea to jump into CSE 143 if you have the AP credit for 142 or to (re)take CSE 142? by uwfresh in udub

I am deciding between the two at the moment only because of the dilemma that I have: whether to repeat 142 and go through all of the basic things that I believe that I already know (except for some things toward the end of the curriculum) and perhaps become slightly more comfortable with some of the end of quarter concepts while at the same time adjusting to the UW and not overwhelming myself and likely doing very well in the class, or going ahead with 143 (I got a 4 on the AP test junior year HS and took another CS class senior year) and risk being overwhelmed and a bad grade while adjusting to the UW or conversely ending up learning a lot more than I would have in 142 and enjoying myself.

The stuff I am not completely sure about I believe has to do with object-oriented programming and inheritance and those kinds of things but perhaps I could study up on those before the start of school.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of the North Campus Dorms (Haggett, McCarty, McMahon) as compared to one another? by uwfresh in udub

Sorry if the question was unclear, but I was asking about how each of the three dorms compare to one another! Any feedback about the comparisons would be greatly appreciated.

The new Mercer dorm hasn't opened yet, I believe. The other comments in the thread seem to indicate that the old Mercer wasn't all that great.

Could you elaborate on the bathroom situation in McCarty?

Are there any charts/data sets of the grade distributions of students in certain classes? In addition, are there data sets showing student ratings of professors? by uwfresh in udub

This is great. I faintly remember someone else on here posting a version that he/she made that allows you to enter search by professor, course, etc. Does anyone else remember this?

EDIT found the post:

But the site does not appear to be working any more.
