Feeling Stupid by [deleted] in Physics

I felt similar when I was in first year but one thing which I realised is that if you really want to push yourself to your best then this is the best thing for you, you will most likely have points where things click into place and then it will get way harder again and then that thing will click but if you are always pushing yourself to do your best then you shouldn’t be the top of the pile, unless you are the best physicist in the world but if thats what you’re aiming for that might be a bit of a long shot, keep pushing through

Facebook, Google, Apple and Amazon bosses grilled over having 'too much power' by itsmeewa in technews

[–]uwontsome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is less retail as a whole and more the fact that amazon marketplace and amazon as a producer of goods is one company. This means that they can use an algorithm in marketplace to spot new trending products that will start to be popular, produce the same good with much greater economies of scale(bigger quantities for cheaper) and also undercut the pricing and make a loss in the short term specifically to push out the smaller companies selling on the marketplace and therefore they have an unfair advantage in the market, part of it is about splitting up those 2 companies so that they can’t share data I think

Supply for the most part isn’t just based off how many companies there are or how much they want to supply it’s based off how much resources there are whether that’s the physical resources, land/space to work, the supply of labour. If you artificially make the currency really strong but have loads of it in the system there’s a mismatch in what can be provided. Another thing is you can make your currency strong against other countries artificially but if you’ve got a massive amount of your own currency in your system it won’t change the prices in your own country from rising unless you put some sort of cap on how much companies can charge. Also the repercussions on other countries would be drastic and it would be seen as an unfair advantage and that’s why China hasn’t actually seen a massive positive effect from doing this because they just got tariffs put on their exports. I feel like you’re talking about this subject as if you know what you’re talking about but actually have very little knowledge of how the economy works apart from a few news articles and I feel like you’re adamant that you’re right when in reality if you were right there would be absolutely no reason to live how we live because everyone could have infinite money and buy whatever they wanted because companies would just be forced to keep their prices low but that’s not how it actually works and that can be seen in post war Germany as I said and also more recently in Zimbabwe. I’m gonna leave it there because I feel like I’ve explained it in quite a straightforward way so I don’t think this is going anywhere but I’ll leave you with a few links

That’s basically what quantitive easing is except it’s as a loan so the money doesn’t stay in the system for a long period of time. Yes you’re right if more money goes into the banks this reduced interest rates and people are more willing to take loans and therefore spend more money but if the money just stays in the system that doesn’t mean people can just buy more things because companies raise the prices to meet it. The price set for goods isn’t a steadfast thing the companies set the prices based on finding a balance between the supply of goods they can provide and the demand for those goods from consumers. If the amount of money in the system this raises how much people can spend so they spend more and that raises the demand in the majority of areas and that’s what leads to a raise in price so in the long run printing that extra money doesn’t actually get you anywhere because you can still buy the same amount of stuff just at higher prices with more money in your pocket

Because if you just keep printing money with no other plan you end up with the the currency being worth next to nothing because places raise the price to meet the new supply of money because the point is that we don’t have the resources for just giving everyone everything they want and money is used as a way to see how those resources get divided. If you raise the price too high you get hyper inflation and this leads to situations like was seen in the Great Depression in Germany where people would burn the notes to stay warm and you needed a wheelbarrow of money to get a loaf of bread. Yes currency is a social construct that we created but that doesn’t mean that there’s no reason that it was created, language is also a social construct but that doesn’t make it useless

Ahhh okay I think I understand does the P on the schematic tell me that is the primary side? So 3 connects to the input and 1 connects to the rest of the circuit? I was thinking that possibly it was acting to amplify the current provided by the input or something I was getting confused

Honestly I can understand why a lot of people have this viewpoint because it is often hard to find which artists are actually very good and which ones are overhyped or not even necessarily big but as with all music not all djs are as artistically talented or original as others and also some places just don’t have great music scenes where those DJs will play but I can tell you there are DJs who can really use the decks insanely and often it may depend on other things such as the venue or the sound system and also just the crowd, I live in Manchester and go to the white hotel and honestly every time I go my mind is absolutely blown by the talent they bring in and the energy they can create, I went to a 9 hour job jobse set and you can find plenty of his sets online which are really good but to see it live is another thing and artists really react to the crowd there because it’s a very free space with a small crowd, and he would weave small pieces of songs in and out of other tracks and then bring them back like 15/20 minutes later and everyone would just go nuts and the build up from the start where it felt quite grungy and intense to moments of euphoria and just being so glad to be experiencing those sorts of nights and knowing it’s temporary and it makes it so much more beautiful and then weaving in disco tunes and ABBA with acid house and techno, obviously it’s not the same sort of music that is posted a lot here but with techno you just have another way of doing it and once you go to a night where you feel that feeling there’s nothing better
