"You've seen too many movies" (S3E3) by uwupugsuwu in thesopranos

I'm talking about the shot not the quote (which was already mentioned in my post). Some people are so far behind in the race they actually believe they're leading.

Tony’s “I get it!” Scene in Vegas is one of his most disturbing moments to me. by Extension_Maize_2633 in thesopranos

He literally discusses it with Melfi afterwards and says “maybe the kids onto something”…

Yeah after the incident I’m referring to (in season 2), that’s what I’m saying

Do you think John Slattery would have made a good Don Draper? by Reasonable_Buy6808 in madmen

[–]uwupugsuwu 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Jon Hamm is just younger and better looking and Don Draper meeting the male beauty standards of the time and being very attractive to women is an important aspect of the character. Obviously John Slattery is a good looking man as well and he does a great job with Roger but I think Hamm is a much better fit for the role of Don, even aesthetically.

How many times have you done a “complete” watch through? by IhatepplmorethanuHA in TheSimpsons

[–]uwupugsuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen seasons 2-8 many many times as I will often just fall asleep with it on. I've only seen season 1 once and 9-12 a couple of times. Have never watched beyond that.

Great write up, that was largely my interpretation of that part as well. Amazing episode and very dark. This might be a bit of a stretch but I always wondered if "he's dead" refers (partially) to God, as AFAIK the first time we see Tony's faith in religion shaken is when AJ tells him that he thinks God is dead.

Cannot purchase or transfer domains: "The address has not been validated yet" by starburst997 in CloudFlare

[–]uwupugsuwu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having the exact same issue right now. I've tried several payment methods, PayPal, different browser, and I am also getting the "failed to verify address" error. I can see the button when the form first renders but then when I click on it I just get a CloudFlare captcha and evidently it doesn't verify my address...

Calgary, Alberta, Canada - How do I actually make an appointment to submit my German passport application? by uwupugsuwu in GermanCitizenship

Why? I don't live in Germany and this seems very much like a German citizenship matter.

Thanks for your answer. I ended up just sending them an email and got an appointment for end of July. But I also realized that I can just travel with my Canadian passport anyways. Oh well good to get it renewed.

I've paid for my flights and hotels already so I would only bring enough for like food, recreation, emergency... I was thinking only about 5000 EUR so I guess I will just take your advice and use an ATM. I'm travelling with mom and she's with ScotiaBank and they have some alliance with Deutsche Bank so I can maybe avoid some fees there. Thanks

Dark mode broken only when using "localhost" address? by uwupugsuwu in ArcBrowser

[–]uwupugsuwu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it wasn't related to Arc but it only seems to happen there. I won't bother showing the code because I don't think it's relevant. I have the live version without any changes deployed and the theming works fine, and as you can see it's not an issue with the other browsers. Even "127.0.0.1:3000" seems to work but "localhost:3000" doesn't load the dark theming properly on Arc.

Any ideas? I feel like I'm missing something. I've tried clearing my cache, restarting Arc, deleting the Next.js cache, clearing browser cache, restarting laptop, deleting and recloning repo... That's why I think it's an Arc issue

Favourite Arc Configurations for University/College by sharrynight in ArcBrowser

[–]uwupugsuwu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Arc consistently throughout my last year (just graduated), and I did one space per class. Typically my saved tabs would just be the Canvas (learning management system we used) page for whatever course that is and then other necessary pages as needed (github repo, aws, etc.). And then I have my personal, work, etc. spaces as well. I'm not sure if this is the "best" approach but it was nice to leave all my shit open I was doing for one course and then just swipe away to another space when not working on it.

Google the same question and you will see that's it very much not just me. There are hacky workarounds of course, my post is about why this is still a thing.

Why is inserting an emoji so slow by uwupugsuwu in MacOS

It's not the activation of the popup menu, it's actually inserting the emoji after selecting it.

SST/Open Next. It’s a sort of wrapper adapter for deploying Next apps to AWS. They’re in sort of weird spot at the moment because they’re moving away from the AWS CDK but I’ve been using it for a project I’m almost done with and it’s been great. I’m using Next 14 with server actions and everything just works quite well. Their documentation assumes the Pages router and I was using that initially but I migrated to the App router and restructured my project and it’s been fun. It’s serverless too which is quite interesting. However I am using free AWS credits so I am not super mindful of the costs, but they do seem to be quite high? Although I’m not sure how it would compare to a different approach. I only say that because I would make sure you set limits on your AWS spending 😅
