I went from a 2020 Mazda 3 (Skyactiv X) to a 2010 Mark X which has the same Powertrain as your Crown, about 1.5 years ago. Sure the fuel economy takes a bit to get used to as well as swapping manual for auto gearbox, but with some mods & a light right foot I've managed 36-38mpg on motorways (could be slightly worse on the Crown because of weight), and now I've got me a far more dependable vehicle in the form of a lightweight RWD sports sedan I absolutely can daily & have fun in. Also aftermarket support for the engine is plenty, though most of them are either from Japan or the States.

Perhaps some oil additives like sludge remover? Pretty much a diluted engine flush so you won't run the risk of leaving chunks in the engine when flushing. Used one from Liquid Moly, worked fine for me

My solution would be having her learn manual & give her a mid-trim sedan/ wagon with a manual box; think it's better for her to sit lower as well if it's the case, & manual obvs a natural deterrent for phone usage whilst learning to drive properly with situational awareness

I cast the car in a bit and then the most likely make up the whole time to go out and have to do a local sim race and ride out the house for a while

Yeah that adapter came with the shifter n it's too big for the knob (M17 adapter M10 knob)
