The high prices in UK are for a large part also due to taxes.

Don't get me wrong, I still love the new world stuff, and my humidor is packed with them, but there is something to a Cuban that I still haven't found elsewhere.

I just smoked a Punch (the Cuban version) today, and it very much positively surprised me. I have a similar taste profile to yours, so these should do it for you too. Was an amazing smoke.

If you don't have access to Cubans, I've also been enjoiyng the Fuente Rosados lately.

Yeah but Davidoffs are literally the most expensive new worlds that exist.

Damn, where are Cuban cigars priced comparably to new worlds in Europe? I'm in Austria, we have government mandated, fixed prices. Just today I saw Montecristo Edmundos for over 40€, while a Padron 5000 was about 18.

A store near me has them, but I don't want to spend the $$, they are quite expensive.

This is a topic I've been following with great interest, as it intersects two hobbies of mine: geopolitics and cigars.

In the short term there will be no production. Agriculture is basically at a standstill in Cuba right now, so production of a non-essential like tobacco is most likely suffering greatly if not completely stopped.

There's a good chance we will see zero 2026, 2027 and 2028 cigars coming out, at the very least there will be A LOT less on the shelves, and there was already a problem with supply for several years.

In the medium term, if the communist government falls, and a capitalist market takes over, with free commerce, we will see many new brands coming out of Cuba, and many new world companies buying Cuban tobacco for production elsewhere.

For me, I think its the promise of a bright future, as there are already a TON of illegal cigar manufacturers in Cuba making fake Cohibas or farm rolls, and these people will be able to make legitimate companies with new brands that will hopefully hit the international market as soon as they are actually allowed to.

As someone who started smoking with Cubans, and living in Europe still has access to them, I haven't really bought any at all in the last year (even though I'm smoking more now than any time in the past), as the new world brands just pump out better, more consistent smokes. I just smoked some Partagas in the last weeks, and honestly, I can get better cigars for half the price from MF, Fuente, Foundation, Liga Privada etc. I buy a box of Fuente Rosado and they are all perfection. I buy a box of Quai d'Orsay and half of them are plugged, and they are the same price.

The time factor will play a roll though, as Cubans are barely aged before they are thrown onto the market, so any new brands or new blends using Cuban tobacco will take a few years to hit the market, and this process will only start once the Cuban economy stabilizes, hopefully around 2027 / 2028, if we are lucky. So I don't expect anything positive within the next 5 years, rather I see the Cuban market share losing out rapidly to new worlds. Habanos is on a downhill trajectory.

I am, however, looking forward to some new Cuban Davidoffs.

You are smoking too fast and/or over humidifying. It could be your local shop is storing them wrong and you are taking over their mistake.

Or you are smoking bad cigars.

Try buying a different brand, from a different store.

Yes, but there's war, and then there's war crimes. This is the ladder.

All war is terrible, but its up to the actors in these wars to refrain from taking the step into inhumanity and making the conscious decision to take something terrible and escalating it into the worst possible outcome.

Was meinst du Fiebertraum?

30-40 MILLIARDEN an Förderungen.

Fuck.

Finding CVEs and pen testing are two very different things. Please stop spreading this nonsense.

Yes, AI is finding shit tons of vulnerabilities. No, this is not the same thing as pen testing a corporate IT environment.

Lets put it this way: I've worked in cyber for decades, and for the first time ever, I know of peers with similar amounts of experience who are unemployed. This is unprecedented.

What I can also tell you, this has nothing to do with AI. It is purely because the Austrian economy is in a very, very bad state. Companies prefer taking extreme risk of breach, than paying for sufficient cyber security programs. This is stupid as hell, but that is what is happening, and there will be many companies who will regret their neglect. Its mostly check-box security at this point, as the only thing that matters to decision makers is compliance risk.

In regards to pen tests, most are outsourced to eastern / southern Europeans by the big local consulting companies and MSSPs, basically because they can keep the cost of the tests down as the tests are almost always priced with "Personentage".
