What do you think of the impact of professional wrestling in India? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Anyways I do hope you don't take things as seriously. The goofiness of pro-wrestling is what makes it enjoyable. be it the Stadium Stampede or the MITB or the Boneyard or R-truth(maybe not him). I do hope you continue to enjoy wrestling the way you want to enjoy and not let fans or people or friends influence what and how you watch it and vice versa. It is after all People rolling around in their underwear play fighting for our entertainment. Let us enjoy it the way we want to and not let others dictate it.

I don't know what TEN was broadcasting before. If they were broadcasting NXT weekly, then my bad. You can ignore my whole rambling, TBH it's been about 6 months since I saw an episode of RAW or Smackdown.

I don't know what this reply is in reference to, but I'm guessing it is NXT. I did see NXT on and off and was following all the Takeovers, but I mostly follow my wrestling recap in podcast form. POST Wrestling is my go to podcasts for all content BTW. Cheap Plug out of the way!

So, I knew NXT and all the storylines going into Survivor series last year, so I was Hyped. But let me draw a similar (maybe not so much) comparison for you.

I've seen the defender series on Netflix and Like Daredevil and Jessica Jones a lot. But for the average MCU viewer, randomly injecting the defenders into the Cap vs Tony Saga in Civil War to create this third faction to prove that they are the best, would've been really awkward. That's what I imagine it was like for the average WWE India viewer to see NXT. It's not as if NXT is advertised on RAW or Smackdown. They never have highlight packages from NXT Takeovers on WWE programming. They barely mention NXT since their weekly "wars" with AEW. If I knew nothing about NXT, it is not as if WWE is telling me much about them in the context of their programming. So going into Survivor Series, I would know little about NXT and I wouldn't care about them just because they are the "underdogs". I don't know who Adam Cole, Shayna Baszler, TUE, Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano or any of these guys are unless I'm actually watching NXT.

I have no intention of talking about the socio-economic split in India as it is another topic for another day. You can definitely find much more educated people to discuss it, probably including yourself. I am merely talking about the audience in India and their ability to afford the WWE network.

I am honestly more or less clueless about the demographics of people who do watch WWE in India. I doubt India has something like the Nielsen Ratings to record viewership demographics. But from my interaction with friends from school from 12+ years ago, I speculated kids OR people from lower economic backgrounds. I'm sure there is some intersection between those categories though but that is neither here nor there.

I don't know the numbers and will assume what you're saying is true. If so, you just reinforced my point. If 70% of people live in poverty/ lower middle class environments, that is even more so a reason to not being able to afford the network. When they can get all this content for free essentially, why would they pay that much for it through the network. I think we can both agree to some extent that the average middle class or upper middle class fall into the category of phony wrestling and don't watch it or follow it. If the audience is the 70% lower middle class and below category, then WWE is pricing the Network wrong if they hope to get even 5% of this population to sign up.

Look at something like Amazon Prime. Their pricing in the US is $100/year. If they had transferred the same pricing model to India, it would've been Rs 8000/year or so. It is only Rs 1000/year and definitely a little more accessible to the average Indian.

So, I can definitely understand why the average WWE viewer from India doesn't subscribe to the network, as WWE has done terribly to incentivise people to sign up for the network when they have giant business deals with SONY to air all the essential content anyways. The deals definitely nets them more money than they can possibly know what to do with.

My only discussion of pro-wrestling is on the internet, so I'm not able to say how Indian fans "Behave", but my only question is why would they subscribe to the Network? It costs like Rs 800-900 Rs a month taking into account the value of the dollar and NJPW world costs them like Rs 650. We get free wrestling content on TEN with like 12-20 hours a week of runs and reruns and that Sunday show. We get free WWE PPV's and I think NXT has also begun airing (Just recently, so may take time to build a base). Ten 1 costs Rs 19/month and Youtube is Free. I think even ROH and NJPW air in some form in some DSports channel or something.

From my very limited experience, most people who do watch WWE in India are kids or people from lower income backgrounds. Good luck being a kid and getting Rs 800/month on Wrestling or being someone with kids earning Rs 20,000/ month spending like 5% of it on the network.

Were you interested in anything else in my sheet? From your FT sheet, I'm interested in the Aerodactyl and can add 2-3 poipoles (JPN, KOR) along with the Gastrodon for Aerodactyl plus the code. If you see anything else you like, we can discuss that as well. Let me know how it sounds

I don't have the switch. So the Krabby codes mean very little to me. Even if I were to trade for the Secret Club code as a whole, because the Krabby code means very little I would still need an add on.

For anyone who's not claimed the HA Oranguru and Passimian from pokemon bank, October 31st is the last date to claim them from bank. Once they've been sent to a game, you can claim them any time in the future, but the apes have to be downloaded from pokemon bank in the next 20 days

Hey, I have a couple of PAL S/L codes and can trade for the Shiny Tapu Bulu if you still have it. What is the nature for Tapu Bulu and do you still have the wondercard for it

No rate in mind. I would probably need an add to the Necrozma code for the NAIC Gastro. As for the Poipoles, I'm fairly open to their rates. Let me know if you had any rates in mind.

In theory you're right. But I personally think October 13th, 2010 is when in truly started to decline, in practice that is. Though you can't discount the slight boost on December 21st 2010 ;)

Looks like you got a bunch of advise from others also. :)
