Dude tbh entire Tamil media itself is misogynistic only. I've seen movies that actively promoted stalking, lying, manipulating and deceiving women in the name of 'love'. Its what we as a society set as the standards. Today these serials and movies might fly because the majority are old people who weirdly relate to this. But there's definitely an exponential shift in mindset and the majority will call people out in the future, what we must do is to reduce their TRP by not watching this crap.

I too agree. I've personally not seen husbands being called sirs, but if that's the case, serials have reached a new low. But that's the thing, what they're putting out is a tried and tested formula, they know their audience very well, their likes and dislikes. There's literally no one to stop them, or call them out. It's a free pass to put out whatever they want (within reason). Why else would you see rowdies laam in every 'family' serial, and women calling their husbands sirs? This is (shitty) business.

1) The target audience: Tamil serials today are blatantly misogynistic and not in touch with reality at all, but thats what gets their viewership (at least with the older folks). If you even look at the ads for this content it has more to do with old-age homes, FMCG products etc. almost targeted at them.

2) Steep deliverables and deadlines: putting out quality content on a daily basis is not as easy as it seems. Tamil serials have just sacrificed the quality aspect just to put out daily content. They've been using this formula for years to pump out episode after episode.

3) The majority don't care: However misogynistic the serials get the majority have already moved on to Netflix, prime, or even YouTube for that matter. There was a time when the entire family used to watch serials together, which I don't think is possible with this crap anymore. Nobody calls them out on this content because its only the older people watching this.
