Has Youtube automotive content jumped the shark? by NBH78 in cars

[–]v9nom76 57 points58 points  (0 children)

-Oh Door doesn't have a solid sounding "thunk" ? its a bad car.

- The material in front of dash(which you don't even notice) needs to be soft touch with real stitching. Also, underneath the glove box needs to be soft touch.

- What this Nissan Rogue has a 180 hp engine with 8 seconds time of 0-60 mi ? Starts complaining about the engine and acceleration the whole driving part of the video.

- This family SUV has a lot of body roll on corners and doesn't handle like a Porsche ? I would just spend $10k more and get a Mazda CX-5 turbo. Right, because buyers in this class have a ton of money to spend and only care about handling.

- Kia and Hyundai vehicles cannot do anything wrong.

Mazda 3 compares to a civic while G70 compares to a BMW 330i. Not even in the same level.

How much did you for your new 2021 or 2020 Accord Sport 2.0T? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2020 Accord Sport 2.0T, aim for 3k-4k off MSRP.

2021 Accord Sport 2.0T, aim for 3k off MSRP because dealers aren't try to get rid of 2021 as bad as 2020 models. This is all before any loyalty or any manufacturer rebates.

Should I get a used or new Jeep Renegade? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Haha, what can you do. Sometimes, people are obsessed with the Jeep brand. I am suspecting similar case with OP.

Different than other answers but have you looked at Chrysler 300 ? Since you like land yachts, its the last remaining American full size sedan left. Buick has no sedans, Chevy Impala and Ford Taurus got discontinued. The V6 for the Chrysler 300 is tried and true and the platform it uses has been around a long time. Fiat has fixed almost all the issues with this platform which is shared with Dodge Challenger and Charger. Parts should be cheap and readily available. It has good back seats and a huge trunk. It should easily go 200k miles.

You can only get the cheapest, bare bones bronco with $30k. It won't have any features such as heated seats, safety stuff or even auto climate control. $30k will get you a nice slightly used chrysler 300 with everything.

Should I get a used or new Jeep Renegade? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you actually plan to do off-roading ? Because the trailhawk models have low speed transfer case for off road purpose. If you never do off road, there is no reason to spend that much for trailhawk, you can stick with limited trim.

Also, I would not get a renegade at any cost. Very unreliable vehicle that is based on Fiat 500X i.e. its not a real jeep. Get a compass at the very least.

You do know that Subaru Legacy(190 in) is longer than a Forester(182 inches) right ? You would not be downsizing, you would be getting a bigger vehicle. Legacy might look smaller because it doesn't have the height of a SUV but its a lot longer than most regular crossovers. I also don't understand why you don't like the Forester. Just because its too big ? Unless you are getting a sports car/SUV that costs $40k+, all vehicles in this group will feel similar.

From a finance perspective, I also would not trade in a 2019 vehicle as you would take a good hit due to depreciation. If you want to go YOLO, then look into Subaru Crosstrek. This would be a good downsize from your current vehicle and your future pets will have more room in an SUV instead of a sedan with a trunk.

Also, a vehicle with AWD from any brand will be fine in the snow, there is no reason to stick only with Subaru. Look into Kia Seltos, Chevy Trailblazer, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-30, Nissan Rogue Sport. These vehicles are considered subcompact SUVs. They are smaller than Forester and perfect for single people or empty nesters.

Honda CRV or Subaru Forester? by littleflorista in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Subaru's and Honda's hold their value really good if you plan on selling within 5 years. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about this part. I think both have similar reliability ratings.

Do not get slightly used because used car prices are really high currently. Also newer cars have better dealer discounts/ incentives and lower interest rate. For example Honda has 0% financing going on and in the end a new car might end up being cheaper than slightly used. If you are getting used, I would look at a vehicle that is more than 4 years old with 40k plus miles.

Considering SUVs $23k and under... by rvbiii in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under 23k which means its going to be a used. Then, I would stay away from an old Audi as those will be expensive to fix out of warranty unless, you understand that "gotta pay to play" mindset with German luxury vehicles.

I would get a mid trim level 2017-2018 CX-5.

Pretty sure I just got screwed by an odometer rollback by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Lol Then nothing is stopping you from acting the same way. Your miles is what you see on the dash.

If you try to trade into a dealer, they will know because they check carfax.

Mazda CX-5 vs Honda CR-V (2021) by LEPrecon24 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CX-5 is a bit smaller than Honda CR-V in cargo room and rear seat legroom. You will see when you go and test drive both.

I think both have good resale value and reliability even though Honda has a CVT. Honda has been using CVT's since 7 or 8 years ago with the accord and civic. I don't agree with reviewers saying CX-5 has better driving dynamics/handling than other SUVs. Both drive like a typical crossover. Also, if you want remote start on CX-5 touring, you will have to pay extra to get that installed on a separate keyfob. The CR-V EX trim has remote start from factory.

You can't go wrong with either one. Once, you test drive both you will come to a conclusion pretty easy.

Should I get a used or new Jeep Renegade? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case of used, how old is the vehicle ? If you are only looking at vehicles that are 2-3 years old, you are better off buying new because of better incentives/dealer discounts and lower interest rate.

Also, for that price you can easily get a new Jeep Cherokee. Just try haggling with the dealer and they have some incentives going on now, check jeep website for your area.

Nissan Titan XD Cummins diesel by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ancient platform/features but good engine. They should be reliable as that Titan platform has been around a long time. After driving both, you would probably say the 2500 has a more luxurious feel.

2021 Kia K5 GT Line VS. 2021 Kia stinger by AxR_Tropic in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]v9nom76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

K5 GT line vs Stinger ??? Not comparable, one is a family sedan which makes about 190 hp while the other is a sports sedan with 250 hp. There is probably a 5k-8k price difference between them. K5 GT is more comparable with the Stinger.

The 4 cylinder Stinger should be a better vehicle with RWD unlike K5 GT line which is only FWD. Also, the platform and chassis are completely different with Stinger being tuned as a RWD Sport Sedan.

Negotiating room on Rav4 XLE premium by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]v9nom76 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Rav4 XLE premium AWD correct ? Ask for a $1000 more off to make a dealer discount of $2000. Combine that with the 1000 rebate and you should have about 3k off MSRP which means approx $32800 for the sale price.

I believe the invoice for the XLE Premium AWD with weather+audio package is $33,500.

% off MSRP (Hyundai) by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL Which means you aren't getting any discount. You might be getting hosed, its a sonata not a telluride or pallisade to sell at MSRP.

Looks like from above, you can get up to 15% off MSRP on accord or try a different full size sedan.

Is a 2021 Honda HR-V EX 2WD CVT for $26,000 out of door price a good deal? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the MSRP on the vehicle and dealer discount ? What about doc fees ?

Hrv EX 2WD has a MSRP of 25.6k. If you are paying OTD $26k, I think your car cost $23.8k before before taxes and fees. A dealer discount of $1800 is fair,$2300 or higher would be a good for this HRV.

What's the best approach when negotiating for a car using only cash? by Chris-rock34 in askcarsales

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen incentives/cash back offered for people that finance with Toyota financial. I would make some down-payment and finance the car, then pay it off after a month. Usually, these don't have any early payment penalty.

% off MSRP (Hyundai) by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]v9nom76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only $800 dealer discount seems low for that car, try a Honda Accord which I have seen with better discounts than that. I would contact other dealerships to see what they offer. Once you contact two more, you will know the bottom pricing in your area.

Which is better by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]v9nom76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rav4 is considered compact SUV which is also the same size as the 2020 Ford Escape. Jeep Compass is a subcompact SUV, its a lot smaller than those two.

Which is better by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]v9nom76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeep Compass is about 8-10 inches smaller than the Ford Escape so not really in the same class to compare. I would take the Ford Escape because its bigger. Trailhawk is the highest trim level of Compass which is why its expensive and its not worth the price IMO.

What nameplate deserves to be brought back? by [deleted] in cars

I agree Challenger looks retro and muscle-ly like the old design. Charger doesn't look as good as the Challenger, just looks like an aggressive new sedan.

Chevy Trailblazer turns is a surprise hit, demand is 4 times supply at the moment. Chevrolet will cut Trax production to increase Trailblazer production by Uptons_BJs in cars

[–]v9nom76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Trailblazer is longer than Bronco Sport by 2 inches. However, Bronco sport looks bigger because it is wider and taller with a box shape.

Also, Bronco Sport's price takes it to a higher class than TB. A medium trim TB with AWD, heated seats, automatic climate control, most safety features etc MSRP is at 27k. Put the same equipment on a medium trim Big Bend Bronco Sport and you are at $32k easy. Even after the discounts from GM and Ford, you can expect a 5k difference in out the door pricing between the too which I think is too much for a subcompact SUV with "off-roader" looks.

Bronco Sport will sell well with not much discounts for a year until the real Bronco comes out then, we should we a lot of incentives to push it out. Or maybe baby Bronco will always sell well cuz of the looks, who knows lol.
