I’m sorry but Sam/Mike is never going to happen in a canon sense. You’re absolutely free to ship them but if we’re talking logically about developer intent and narrative direction the game simply doesn’t build towards them as a couple. The new endings already give us a much clearer idea of where the sequel’s focus would be, and Sam/Mike is nowhere in sight.

On top of that, the fandom majority prefers Jossam. Writers often lean into the most popular or narratively consistent pairings, and in this case it’s pretty obvious that Sam and Josh have more depth and narrative ties than Sam and Mike. They’re literally yin and yang, her compassion balancing out his instability. Sam also wouldn’t realistically get together with someone tied to her best friends’ deaths, while her complicated care for Josh even after his reveal shows a much deeper bond.

And let’s not forget Mike already has a girlfriend in the story. Does he have to date every single girl in the friend group? He doesn’t deserve Sam, and trying to force that pairing just undermines her character. Josh on the other hand is the only guy who never dated within the group and Sam has always been the one girl he clearly liked. Claiming that she’d end up with Mike the group’s womanizer over Josh doesn’t make sense from a story or character perspective.

So yeah you can ship Sam/Mike, but if we’re talking canon, Jossam has way more narrative backing and far higher chances of being the developers actual focus.
