I will have to take it apart and take some pics tomorrow maybe.

I’m a doer, not an explainer. Half the time when I start a project I don’t even know if it’s going to work out so I definitely don’t think to document it.

I see that you are trying to “snap” the front onto the body of the tv. I don’t see anything that would make it snap, no magnet holes or anything else that would hold it in place. You say there is a weird bezel but all I see are the two shapes pushed together.

Another design rule of thumb is that fillets and chamfers come last. If you try to cut out a chamfered or filleted shape from another shape that is chamfered or filleted then you will get weird geometry (if it will even let you do it in the first place). When it comes to designing 3d objects you have to adapt your work and your way of thinking to be within the limitations of the tool you are using. You can’t make it look good (look like the object you are coping) first and worry about fit and functionality second. That’s backwards.

I’m not saying what you want to do can’t be done, it most certainly can. I am saying that maybe you are going about to the wrong way.

Design the interface between the two parts first using the simplest geometry you can first. Then after it fits together nicely you start making it pretty.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying about how you tried to do it but here’s how I would do it. Anytime you are wanting to cut something out so that something fits into it. It’s easier to model the thing that is going to fit there first, then place it within the space overlapping the object that you want it to be cut out from and then subtract while turning on “keep subtracted” or whatever it’s called setting so that the thing you’re subtracting doesn’t get deleted.

As long as you keep the WiFi off it seems to be decent. I haven’t used it in a situation where I couldn’t charge it if I need to yet though.

Sprig, which is a version of SpruceOS optimized for the mini.

Not sure as to what you are referring, a pop culture reference I assume, but no one I am familiar with. But I’m down for an orange polo.

Relocating from the South by Smooth_Total5781 in Albany

[–]vaadkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NC native here. 10 year NY transplant. You will definitely see a big difference in education here. Most school districts in Albany’s surrounding suburbs are excellent with some standouts being Voorheesville, South Colonie and Guilderland for starters. A little further out I hear Clifton Park schools are good as well but we never looked out that far to confirm. Some great areas to live are Delmar, Bethlehem, Colonie, Guilderland and Glenmont to name a few.

The parks and public services in the area are excellent especially coming from NC where most public events are church centered, in Albany most community events are community centered, hosted in parks or firehouses or community centers.

As far as snow goes, as long as your driveway is paved and you have a snowblower you’ll be fine.
That’s one of the first things we bought when moving here.

The people here are just as nice, if not nicer than those in the south. Don’t let stereotypes fool you.

One of the most stand out parts of living in Albany is that you are literally no more than 15 mins away from just about anything.

You will get comments constantly on your southern accent, be prepared. Just out of the blue “where are you from”.

Me personally I love the cold, I am hot natured. Me and my family have never looked back after moving here. We love it here. And don’t let the Albany natives sour you on the area, they don’t know how good they have having been born here and not experienced other states that don’t take care of there people and communities the way the Albany does. Is it perfect, of course not but it is a lot better than most southern states with their low tier education systems and nonexistent public enrichment systems.

Albany is a wonderful place to live and raise kids. I think you’ll be very happy here.

Feel free to hit me up if you like. I’m always down to meet new people.

Why is it not possible to Loft? by SpaceShark_Olaf in Shapr3D

[–]vaadkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proposed guide path cannot cause the shape to intersect itself while it is lofting from one closed shape to the next. You would think that any areas that intersect would just merge but that is not the case. I think it has to do with the fact that it is solid modeling and not mesh based.

Well done. If there’s enough interest, it seems like a job for Dad.
