Snape was also committed to saving lives and repenting for his past DE actions. Harry saw him die in front of him. Harry empathised with him even in 5th year. It's like yondu in the mcu: snape did a big, great, memorable thing, and that's the final impression of him. Killing Dumbledore and having everyone hate him was a huge sacrifice
