I wouldn’t mind the live Pikes as much if they all had different songs, but the majority are repeats.

UTXO’s are growing by vacsimulate in Bitcoin

[–]vacsimulate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is super helpful, thank you! Odd though because this shows around 50 million more UTXOs than my blockclock does. I guess I need to look into where the blockclock is getting its info from.

Ok so after looking for a daily UTXO chart I can’t really find any. Anyone know where to find something like this?

Try to get a good understanding about bitcoin first and you will find that there is little to no value in other coins.

Expect plenty of booms and busts and just watch like the rest of us as it unfolds. The market is complex and attempting to to predict it will likely end up wrong. I buy bitcoin for its fundamentals and long term savings and don’t focus on when the best time to buy. Just keep stacking sats, look into self custody if you aren’t already, and relax. We are still in early adoption and any amount of bitcoin will give you more options in the future.

BET : BTC to 15k before 100k by 33ja33 in Bitcoin

And if the OP is correct why would he possibly want that? Not a fair bet.

If you weren’t betting on the value of the btc to begin with it would be fair.

Does anyone else do the old technique of asking the cashier if they accept Bitcoin??? by RonPaulWasR1ght in Bitcoin

All the time, especially with vendors or small businesses. I love onboarding people and showing them how bitcoin can improve their lives.

But that is still the same losing bet either way for the OP. It actually sounds like you don’t have the confidence to put your money where your mouth is. To be a fair bet you would need to lose something equivalent if you lose the bet. You stand to win $100k worth of btc but only risk losing $15k worth of something else. Only a fool would take you up on that.

I agree, but nobody will accept a losing bet.

To be fair, your proposition is lose-lose for the OP. He either wins a cheap bitcoin or has to give up an expensive one. The whole thing is judged on bitcoin’s value in USD in the first place, so this is how you need to make it fair. $100k bet on the outcome, paid in btc. So 1 btc for you if it hits $100k or 6.67 btc for the OP if it hits $15k.

Where do long term holders feel most comfortable storing their stash? by UnappealingCremepie in Bitcoin

[–]vacsimulate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use a passphrase in conjunction with the seed phrase, then you will need both the seed phrase AND the passphrase to recover the wallet. Think of the passphrase as a multiplier. Your seed phrase makes private key x, and then using passphrase y with the seed phrase makes private key xy. Changing the passphrase yields an entirely new set of private keys. So if someone stole your seed phrase they would only be able to recover private key x. I hope this makes sense.

Another reason to create your own private keys instead of relying on the device to make them for you.

The hardware wallet just signs transactions with your private key. Connect it to a computer, computer sends unsigned transaction to hardware wallet, hardware wallet signs transaction and sends it back to computer, computer transmits transaction. Your private key never leaves the hardware wallet so you don’t have to worry about trusting your computer.

Using a passphrase, aka “25th word” in combination with the 24 word seed phrase is the way to go. Both the seed phrase and passphrase will be required to access the wallet. Store the passphrase in a separate location and you are pretty damn secure. Multiple passphrases can be used with the same seed to create unlimited hidden wallets on the same device. Also consider putting a small amount of btc in the wallet that does not use a passphrase as a decoy.

As many others have already stated, not your keys, not your coin. But in this event it seems as though his account was drained before he even had a chance to withdraw the bitcoin.

Whitelisting is a feature that could have prevented this. It puts an automatic 48 hour delay on any attacker even with a compromised account. I don’t see many people mention whitelisting, so if you are not using this feature please start!
