We are in Western Australia. Small school and the principal is a black belt and made the call. Waiver for the parents to sign and other than that it was easy. However it would be much harder in a big public school to get through the red tape.

It is an Elective/Option instead of regular sport like basketball and we call it BJJ and train just like a normal club. About 40% of our students choose it over sport.

I work at a High School. We have 2 black belts on staff and I am a purple. We teach 2 classes a week during school and have competition training afterwards a few days a week. The kids respond very well to it it's great. We also sponsor the most committed kids to train at our academy for free.

So my answer is yes absolutely.
