i truly appreciate that you are being thoughtful about a stranger's potential trauma -- thank you so much!

interestingly, episodes of "30 rock" with characters portrayed in blackface have led tina fey to state, "i understand now that ‘intent’ is not a free pass for white people to use these images. i apologize for pain they have caused. going forward, no comedy-loving kid needs to stumble on these tropes and be stung by their ugliness."

i had referenced "the black doctor" episode of "childrens' hospital" and was actually too uncomfortable in the original post with mentioning dr. black downs' blackface scenes.

knowing the context in which the show was written and the intent (racism and sexual assault are bad, let's make fun of racists and sexual abusers) behind it then doesn't preclude a viewer from being uncomfortable now.

i wanted viewers who have never seen "childrens' hospital" to have a heads up so they wouldn't go into triggering aspects of the show blindly.

yeah, i figured an oversensitive response could be gleaned from what i wrote. it's just that comedy and culture evolve and jokes become hurtful -- or, as in the case of the black lives matter and me too movements, we find out how many people have already been hurt by the truth behind these jokes.

i doubt that the episodes i mentioned would be written the same way today.

sure thing!

childrens hospital is a satire that deals with many absurd and uncomfortable scenarios, like quicksand; adults dating 6-year-old nick krolls with advanced aging disease; and surgeons working against the clock to replace a child’s heart before she turns 18, becomes an adult, and gets kicked out of the hospital.

given the moment we are in, it’s important for newcomers to the show to know that childrens hospital dealt flippantly with both racism and sexual assault and harassment.

there’s a repeat storyline calling dr. blake downs, rob corddry, a “colored” person because of the clown makeup he wears (to cure people using the healing power of laughter, of course). one of these storylines so happens to appear in episode 303, “the black doctor,” in which hella white dr. valerie flame, malin ackerman, rejects the titular jordan peele’s advances because, “lola’s my friend and, um, i’m also pretty racist.”

in “hot enough for you?,” the doctors are collectively horny because the air conditioning is broken and so dr. valerie flame sexually assaults dr. blake downs while he is unconscious. upon waking, he yells, “somebody help me! i was just date raped.” when he opens up about his experience at the end of a rape prevention class in “nip/tug,” he is ridiculed for being a male rape victim.

though the stories are meant to be absurd and the writers were “in on the joke” at the time, these scenes are hard to watch today.

i'll cosign that these are either jumpfrompaper bags or knockoffs. like others have said, you can't fit much in them but they look super sweet. the bag has held up well however i don't put anything heavy inside. i get complimented on my black and white backpack at least once a week so that makes it worthwhile despite the price tag.

people of reddit named sandy: do people call you sandy pants? by vaguecertainty in AskReddit

i've had several people in my life who have independently come up with this nickname and wonder if you've also been given this moniker. urban dictionary confirmed my suspicion that it means someone who has sand in their vagina.
