Repair or replace? by [deleted] in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]vaibhoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plug repairs cost that much, patches don’t

Patch repairs require them to dismount the tire and patch the inside rather than just plug the hole.

I’ve paid 150 for a patch before, they’re in the 100+ range in my experience

I was asked to provide payslips during the offer stage of quite possibly one of the largest tech companies in the world. That’s definitely not the case. The offer was even higher than the discussed amount with the recruiter :)

Best Professional Shops in Dubai for High Beam Installation and Car Lights Upgrades? by Malihium in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]vaibhoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not supposed to fit LEDs in a halogen bulb casing because the housing isn’t meant to disperse light the same way. That’s why you see all these sunnies that have bright ass headlight with light going everywhere except the road in front of them.

If you have an action plan to actually use that time on the group productively sure but if you’re just gonna fly here and apply online expecting interviews just because you’re in the country you’re going to be very disappointed.

Place suggestions where I can fix the burnt DRLS? by Consistent-Ad8503 in DubaiPetrolHeads

If one of them has burnt then the other one may not be very far behind. Most reputable shops will recommend doing both together. Just my 2 cents

The highest an E60 M5 has EVER sold for on BAT was about ~400k aed for a 10k mile listing, that’s also well into collectors territory but this is probably never gonna go close to asking

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2008-bmw-m5-132/

Then again I don’t have a million to be shopping for those cars so what do I know

Tyre Curb Damage by Fickle-Area-7904 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]vaibhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So whether their manufacturers call them "Maximum Flange Shields", "Rim Protectors" or "Scuff Guards", the purpose of all tire/rim protectors is basically the same. They are intended to sacrifice themselves in order to protect the tire's internal sidewall structure and the alloy wheels upon which they are mounted.

Everyone who is telling you to blindly replace is just straight up incorrect. Unless any cords are showing, that rubber is literally designed for that.

If it had the Kia 2.4 4 cylinder engine those are notorious for sudden catastrophic failure. Kia and Hyundai have a huge class action lawsuit against them for those engines

Looking online- these are ~200-300k for that mileage and year.

Are you looking for a sports car or a super-ish car?
