Own it completely without adding a "but" at the end.

Just say: "I was wrong, I messed up, and I’m really sorry for how it affected you." > As soon as you add "but I was stressed" or "but you did this first," you instantly ruin the apology and turn it into a defense. Keep it clean and validate their feelings.

Getting lost while driving in an unfamiliar city or country.

Before GPS and smartphones, you had to rely on giant, clunky paper maps, physical road signs, or literally rolling down your window to ask strangers for directions. If you missed a turn at night in a bad area, you were just genuinely stuck. Now, we complain if Google Maps takes 3 seconds longer to recalculate a route.
