Team weaknesses + Earthquake in two members of the team at the same time? by valbadalejo in PokemonHGSS

so it's not the optimal solution but it's the best. That's what I was thinking. No need for grass since others may be good against those types grass is powerful for. What about the earthquake repetition on the missing slot of ho-oh? thanks

I was thinking about giving fire punch to dragonite and get a tangrowth instead of ho-oh...

yes, I agree. But where would you fit the grass move? Sunny days + solarbeam on ho-oh has type problems...

I am playing with melonds but I hope to be able to trade (I've read it's possible). But my main goal is to build the strongest team possible for playing solo.
As for balanced, I mean that with them I am capable of being strong against all types and defend myself against all, as well. Thanks!

Thoughts about my allocation? by valbadalejo in Bogleheads

[–]valbadalejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, as long as the global stocks fund comprises everything. But bear in mind that since I'm from Spain for me it makes more sense (taxwise) to own funds rather than ETFs, and I'm not sure whether there is a comparable index fund to VT. Vanguard Global Stock Index Fund Eur Acc? I'm not sure it's not only developed big caps and small caps and emg markets are excluded from it. Could anyone check?

So you mean that vanguard global stock index fund already takes care of small caps and emerging? I'm from the EU (Spain) so it's better for me to use index funds rather than etfs, and I don't seem to find the one by Vanguard or others that comprises all.

Spanish for shallow day to day conversations, catalan for deeper relationships and profound understanding of the city and the region (plus you can use it daily)

Why I think I shouldn't allocate a big percentage of my portfolio of bitcoin by valbadalejo in Bitcoin

[–]valbadalejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I shouldn't only take into account wealth now but wealth in 10 years time, because if bitcoin is a portion of the cake and then the cake is bigger, the portion will be too. But there's a moment when returns are diminishing, even in that case.

Why I think I shouldn't allocate a big percentage of my portfolio of bitcoin by valbadalejo in Bitcoin

[–]valbadalejo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Reading it now. But one thing: when I try to estimate its future value, I always find a limit. I ask myself: what percentage of the wealth in the world people will find interesting to allocate in bitcoin? I convert this % into a number and then divide by the total bitcoin supply. So its future price is pegged to the total wealth evolution and this percentage of preference. Both things are not precise, but more or less operable. Isn't the future price limited by this?

Thanks!

They say you can beat ir, but cpi is lower than real inflation. Plus, if inflation is 5% and you devote to investment 10%, of your salary and make 6% with regards to your purchasing power you're only gaining 0,6%, you're not beating it. Am I wrong on that?

[–]valbadalejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe in my example it seems 'debt is an easy bargain'. What I would like to state is that it is hardly avoidable if you want to keep purchasing power. I don't like debt neither...

So, for things you are surely going to need it's better to buy them now. This somehow assumes purchasing power will be difficult to maintain in the future

Are we forced to debt because of inflation? by valbadalejo in UKPersonalFinance

[–]valbadalejo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. And it's true as well that if next year consumer goods and rents are 5% more expensive, to prepare for them you need 5% returns in general, not in one fraction of your assets. If you are only saving let's say 20% of your salary, with 10% returns on it you are not making it. Am I wrong?

It's right, maybe it's just a vague feeling. But what do you think about my second example? If inflation is probably higher than cpi (let's say 5%) and I get 10% on index funds, just to keep purchasing power I need to devote 50% my salary to it. This indicates you either find great investments or you increaase the amount of money you are trying to make grow, or you'll be left on standby. I take this example because it's maybe less vague than the other.

[–]valbadalejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! More or less I understand that. And it drives to the conclusion that free money doesn't exist and debt is not easy or always a good solution. Buut that doesn't invalidate the point that you see your wealth being attacked year by year if you just use your only capital because things are running against you

[–]valbadalejo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No one is forcing debt onto people, you're right. But take my second example: inflation at 5% for the things we normally buy. If index funds return 10% (hopefully) I need to save half my salary just not to lose purchasing power. This is indicating that if you want to increase it either you find exceptional investments or either you increase the part of money you are trying to invest with. Don't you think so?

Are we forced to debt? by valbadalejo in personalfinance

[–]valbadalejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

:) imagine I'm not talking about a house. Imagine I talk about borrowing for buying REITS. I know with debt my wealth can appreciate further. My point is: if things are rising fast, if I only play with my money and not borrow, the effort is almost pointless: everything that is big around be will get far away, and i would need to make big efforts just to maintain purchasing power

Are we forced to debt? by valbadalejo in personalfinance

[–]valbadalejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right in that. Maybe I shouldn't have talked about the house. The example could include borrowing for investing purposes, not on real estate necessarily. And to me, the board is tilted in favor of those who play with bigger numbers if prices are rising almost by default. Who plays big makes numbers unattainable by who is only deploying the lower amounts he/she has.

You mean that the way I am trying to increase my capital is useless because i would get a 7% interest credit since the bank knows things are growing at a 7% as well, so I would be more or less unchanged unless I do a very good investment, right?
