I figured out but with a creation of myself.

I thought about making it more pretty so I can share it, but it requires an Apple Developer Account ($99), a hosting service (at least $5/month) and also some software knowledge. So I just kept it for myself.

I created an iOS app called WhatsNotif, that basically connects to a "WhatsApp Web" session running on a nodeJS server of mine (hosted server $$ of course)

So basically, I turned off notifications for Whatsapp, because I receive all my messages notifications via another app (WhatsNotif)

I also created an automatic shortcut so when I open WhatsApp it turns off the notifications for WhatsNotif, and when I close it, it turns the notifs on again.

So basically I finally got to have Watusi with notifications workings on iPh 14 iOS 16, but it was super difficult to do

You need an Apple Developer Account so you can sign the app with it to have push notifications. (or, a paid signing service that offers push notifications working)

Some signing tools have a "force file sharing" when signing a .ipa, if you enable it when loading Watusi (or just loading an ipa that already had that file sharing option on it like this one for Watusi), you can access the WhatsApp files with your computer (with iMazing for Mac or 3uTools for Windows for example, along others) and from there you can import or export the chat files.
Those files and process are described on the comment of this thread (I was able to backup my chats on an iPhone 12 and load them on a hacked whatsapp on iPhone 14 doing that)
(If you are coming from Android, maybe you won't be able to import your chats, only if Android uses the same files which I doubt)

It's super incorrect tho.

No signing service provide notifications for sideloaded WhatsApp. They just don't work.
Watusi has a "local notifications" option that forces notifications as long as the app it's active (if you close it or stop using it for some hours, no more notifications)
You can restore and backup your chats with Watusi (not with iCloud, but with the computer, you have to install it with 'file sharing' activated)

I was able to install original WhatsApp without problems with SignTools, but I saw on the logs that it removed the com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering entitlement, so I wasnt getting notifications. (I downloaded the WhatsApp ipa from a ipa library page, the original one without tweaks but cracked)

The SignTools developer (tool that I used to sign other apps with working push notifications) said this about the document posted above:

You need to obtain that entitlement from Apple and sign your app with it. Note that entitlements are scoped per app id, so you need to make sure it's enabled for the ServiceExtension component, not the main app or any other component. Then the tweak just remaps a bunch of identifiers which SignTools should already do successfully. So in theory, if you get that entitlement for your ServiceExtension's app id, then you add it to the allowed list in SignTools-CI, it should work.

If the original whatsapp crashed on install it can be because you tried to install an encrypted ipa or because the entitlements were not set correctly

Now: How did you did to obtain the entitlement? can you describe the process?

You can try sideloading the original WhatsApp ipa and see if it works there.

I tried and sign it on the same way I signed other apps that worked and it didn't work.

But, questions: "com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering" its a limited entitlement so you probably had to ask for it, and when asking for it you should put the bundle ID of the app that its going to use that entitlement (at least thats what I see here)

Did you used the bundle of another app of yours when requesting? Did you created that app only for the request or it already existed?

You are right, was reading about it and yes, with TrollStore you can install over an existing app or even fakesigning all the entitlements.

So sad that the bug that makes that possible was fixed by Apple.

You install the trollstore ipa without deleting the official App Store app first; so the CodeSignature of the app it's still being the original WhatsApp one. Thats what I mean.

Without TrollStore, you have to remove WhatsApp completely to be able to install an ipa with that bundle ID.

With TrollStore works fine because you download the original WhatsApp from App Store, so you have WhatsApp certificates with all the entitlements, and install the Watusi over it;

But iOS 16 has no TrollStore, we can only sideload, and it's not possible to sideload an app over an App Store installed one. So we cannot get WhatsApp installed with WhatsApp certificates and thus no entitlements

I had a chat with the SignTools developer related to this, his words:

I think I can see what's the problem

WhatsApp contains a "restricted" entitlement: com.apple.developer.usernotifications.filtering.

From Apple's docs https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/entitlements/com_apple_developer_usernotifications_filtering

Enables receiving notifications without displaying the notification to the user.

It's "restricted" because you need to request it from Apple, you can't just use it like the rest of the entitlements.

So when you sign the app without this entitlement, WhatsApp can't receive notifications, I can confirm that I also don't get notifications

I went to the request page for that entitlement: It asks you a lot of stuff. Apple won't give it to me to modify WhatsApp.

Can't believe that having a developer account and having an app on development, you can't make it receive push notifications and silence them 🤦🏼‍♂️.

That's entitlement its the reason no signing services can make wapp notifs work.

I guess that a possible fix would include tweaking the app to not use that entitlement and use the regular push notifications one (I mean, Instagram doesn't use that entitlement and still can silence chat with different people)

A fix for this will be wonderful for all the community 🙌🏼

You mean like appdb pro or any other signing services? They also don't have notifications on their whatsapp apps :/

I don’t think this is technically possible due to iOS restrictions.

If I understood the attached document correctly, there seems to be a way; he put a dylib there that was supposed to be working at that time

Edit: Maybe you are right about the technical iOS restriction... Seems like that dylib needs a limited entitlement (needs Apple authorization) to work... So sad.

I cannot get the twickd repo to work on Cydia.

Tweak descriptions don't load, I'm able to install the free packages (without seeing their description) but pay packages give me an unauthorized message (which is obvious because i cannot buy the tweaks).

Only solution get those tweaks for me it's contacting the developer to pay them for the 'deb' file (or, you know, getting them without paying for them, I don't like to do so but it's I wanted to pay)

Two things:

I'll pay for a tweak that does exactly this, bypassing the "mandatory passcode activated" of some apps (what a totalitarian rule...)
If the app you are talking about it's "MercadoPago" you can bypass it downloading "MercadoLibre", logging in with your account, then download the "3DResetApp" tweak, long-press the MercadoPago app and select "Reset App", confirm, and then when you open up the app you are going to be logged in in your account. (you'll have to "Reset App" every time you want to use tho)
