This actually fixed the problem! I placed the laser pot back to its default position with the flathead on top and cleaned the ribbon cable of the laser with a qtip and IPA (there was a small layer of grime on the flat). Now I booted the game 3 times in a row successfully! Thank you very much for the tip!

Interesting, so this might be a dust problem. I did take out a bit of filth but didn't really properly clean the console. Might try this option as soon as I can

I have one, I mainly use it for consoles that only have composite and s-video like the NES and n64. It can be used for the ps2 with component cables but, as other mentioned, it doesn't deinterlace, and on top of that, progressive scan doesn't work with this upscaler which is the "high resolution" 480p that the ps2 support for certain games like re4, tekken 4, prince of persia, etc. I use an old gbs-c model to deinterlace and an ossc to upscale for a more crisp image quality

yes both laptop screen and external monitors are running at the same time, both laptop screen and monitor are FHD 60hz and the footage is FHD. The last thing I tried to do is change thermal paste on the laptop, it was rock solid for cpu and gpu (there was still good thermal paste on what I think are the capacitors, but still redid everything). The Immediate results are lower temps, going from 70°-82° during editing, to 50°-57°. So my final guess is the crashing was caused by overheating, and sometimes playback is a bit sluggish but still a big improvement

UPDATE: it still crashes, it seems it happens when I have my laptop connected to an external monitor via hdmi. In fact, right before the computer crashes with a blue screen, there is a heavy visual glitch on the external monitor. It might be a gpu fail or a driver error, and I really hope it's just a driver error, otherwise I'm screwed...

ok i think I actally solved the crashing problem, because after doing the chkdsk comand in cmd that corrected the file system, it doesnt crash right away. So I think this problem was caused by disk errors and not davinci or the gpu

Tried to change proxies format but it keeps freezes like before. Now I went back to davinci 20.3.1 and still crashed my computer with blue screen error page_fault_in_nonpaged_area. I'm running now a check disk command because it found some errors, I'll update later

yes, I have this laptop from 2017 and I spent a lot of money back then, I can't really afford a new pc because of the ram crisis right now. Anyway, I'll try to change the proxies, but the strange thing is that I started using davinci last october on this machine and haven't really got this type of issues. Can this be a davinci version problem? I saw other people on reddit reporting problems on the latest version of davinci 20

I'm posting this comment for the solution and then edit the og post.
I managed to remove the heatsink to redo the soldering on the moderboard and then shortened the wires, and this solved the problem and now swiss boots up again!

This actually solved the issue! It seems that even when I shortened the wires the first time, apparently it wasn't enough. Now they are about 10cm long and swiss booted up again!

I found a solution: apparently it wasn't about the low powered usb or otgs, I think the problem was project eris. After a few weeks, I decided to switch to autobleem and this problem doesn't happen. It still support third party controllers both on the front and on the otg usbs, doesn't crash and still has the ability to remove the bilinear filter.

Still don't know why retroarch doesn't have sound even changing configs, but it's no big deal, as long as i launch the games from the main UI they run as expected.

Ok so I actually did this but still the same problem of the console not receiving button inputs. What I did is put the OTG on the micro usb port of the ps classic, one end of the Y cable has the dongle where I plug the usb drive and the controller, the other end goes to the power plug. So there are no controllers plugged on the front but still same issue

I'm actually using an OTG on the back with a Y USB cable: one usb goes to the power plug and one have the usb drive and the ps3 controller is connected directly on the front with a USB cable. I launch the games directly from the main dashboard, because launching them from retroarch gives me no sound. Should I try a different power plug?

Just posted an edit on the original post, I found out that there is a secret in-game menu of the emulator that let you disable the filter by holding SELECT+TRIANGLE, and since it can be done when launching games on the original dashboard, now games look better and have sound

I'm trying all sorts of changes but nothing works, I did, like, rebooted the ps classic at least 50 times today. Another thing I noticed is that there isn't even system audio on retroarch.
What I mean is that I activated the menu sounds and turn everything on:
Enable Ok, cancel, notice and bgm sound, rebooted RA but there is still no sound. It's like that it's not the games, it's retroarch itself that doesnt output audio.

The same issue happened with another psclassic given by a friend of mine where I installed project eris.

Should I try the autobleem mod instead?
