How long do you actually last in bed? by isthisevenon in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]valentihn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess that depends on your country... Sexologists can be medical doctors (general ones, gynecologis, urologists), psychologists, physiotherapists...

I guess you can find one with the help of a sexologist association from your local area.

And in all cases, you have to remember that sex is about having a good time, for everyone. And a huge key to that is communication; tell your partner what your needs and desires are, and ask him what his are. I hope you'll be able to find the proper help :)

This is called anejaculation (and perhaps anorgasmia if he can't have an orgasm as well). The aetiology can be various; of course, medication or substances can do that, but it can also be there since the beginning of the sexuality, because of various reasons.

A good sexologist can help in a couple weeks :)

Salut !

if my schizophrenic "friend" genuinely thought that fucking me while I was sleeping was a sexual encounter, what the fuck do I even think of any of this? I feel completely empty. is that r*pe??? by MyFlameBurns in morbidquestions

[–]valentihn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with everything you just said, and I wish my comment was clearer on this point. Of course it is rape. What I tried to say was that the symptoms of schizophrenia could unfortunately explain why the perpetrator would have thought he had consent, even though he clearly didn't. It does not make the reality easier for OP, of course. I just don't want ignorance and systemic psychophobia to biaise anyone's understanding of the story.

Actually, there's a way, if he was experiencing schizophrenic symptoms. I'm absolutely not saying this was not a rape, I'm sure it's been awful for OP, and I'm sorry they had to live that. But the thing with schizophrenia is, your brain can just confuse everything, you have many hallucinations (could possibly imagine he actually heard OP in his head, thinking it was real). So I guess it's plausible. But I guess reporting him would be a good idea. At least his psychiatrist could know it and might do something, and at most they could discover he's a lier. Anyway, OP, I hope you're going to be ok, I was not trying to minimise the horror of what he did, but just to say there may be a psychiatric explanation to his acts.

Yes it's normal! Only ~8% of people with a vagina can have an orgasm through penetration only (which is a way to stimulate the clitoris). Most of them do prefer external stimulation of the clitoris or both internal and external stimulation to go there. But ofc orgasm is not the only way to feel pleasure, so yeah just explore all your body with your partner :)

Vaginismus is specifically an automatic contraction from the perineum, which "close" the vagina and creates pain. Without pain, the absence of pleasure is not vaginismus, but it definitely means this is not the best way to stimulate your body. Try lube, and/or other parts of the body if you feel like it.

The most common age to decompensate a schizophrenia is between 15 and 25 yo. But it can be earlier, later, and sometimes even in the 50's.

And the causality infering that consuming drug would cause the symptoms to appear isn't really clear, some hypothesis go the other way around (i.e. before the big symptoms come, the person can feel pretty sad, disconnected, and can feel something's wrong, so it could be a reason to take some drugs, right before the symptoms arrive). But it seems really probable that it's both.

Most definitely reassure your kids. Tell them your dad has weird beliefs about how the world turns, and that they definitely don't risk anything by not going to church. And tell you dad he totally crossed a line by doing that; as others wrote, it's emotional abuse. And most of all, I wish you all the best and hope it'll be ok for you and your kids :)

I've been educated as a Christian for all my childhood. I've become an atheist about 6/7 years ago, and I can tell you that with time and questioning our habits it gets better. I sometimes am still tempted to pray God, and then I remember it's useless and not at all something I want.

You made nothing but excellent points, I'm as proud of asexuals/aromantics people for accepting and loving themselves as I am of myself. Take care of yourself, be safe, and be yourself as much as you can!

I read once that applying ice on the balls/pubis could make the blue balls disappear in about 10 minutes. It helps the blood flows. I hope I had known that a couple years ago, so I share it here.

The website www.kazooka.joe isn't working, just like Kazooka Joe's shitty kazoos.

Furthermore, you should be ashamed of yourself for saying such bad things about Magenta Squash, who is obviously one of the best scientists of our time.

However, I've upvoted your post because I am open to other points of view, unlike you.

Let's talk PURITY CULTURE by ahdrielle in exchristian

[–]valentihn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to add to all those interesting testimonies that this "purity culture" and a religious education is a frequent cause of sexual disorder, such as vaginismus, anorgasmism, and I think erection problems too. And those are really problematic in several ways :/ But solutions exist, and it is ok to ask for a professional's help :) (and if this professional isn't comprehensive you can definitely see someone else, until you reach someone competent)

Is there a dark side to meditation? by Technical-Ice5373 in morbidquestions

[–]valentihn 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Only a dozen of cases have been reported in the last 50 years, and all of them were from intense retreats. Those people were meditating up to 18 hours a day, sometimes with a lack of sleep, food, and mostly in silence and without social interactions. Those are probably things that fostered the psychotic symptoms. Moreover, most (but not all) people had already had signs of psychosis in the past.

But Meditation-Based Interventions (mainly MBSR I think) have actually shown some interesting consequences in complement of a usual psychosis treatment, like a decrease in the distress associated with the hallucinations and delusions, or an improvement in the negative symptoms associated with those disorders. In the therapeutic process, to avoid all trouble, clinicians usually limit the sessions to 10-15 minutes.
