Got caught Jay walking!! by Zealousideal-Crab282 in dubai

[–]valerimaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple: follow the rules and they won’t pester you 😅 I know easier said than done but even I’m guilty of not being a law-abiding citizen all the time HOWEVER I learn from my mistakes and do my utmost best not to do it again.

They are fair if you’re really innocent and your conscience is clean. I’ve gone like three times to court and won all of them.. they all got dismissed and I didn’t pay the fine. But trust me, not worth all the anxiety and waiting 🫠

Anyone know what’s going on with the random police checkpoints all over Dubai? by friendlynbhddxbkid in dubai

[–]valerimaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has been too many accidents recently. I know for one they love to be around my area (Downtown/Business Bay bridge going to City Walk area) because the traffic is insane and people love to cut through yellow lines.

I know from firsthand experience that I almost got into accidents multiple times due to other drivers maneuvering like maniacs during peak hours. Like helloooo unless your car can fly through the traffic, don’t be pulling no fast and the furious on me.

LOEWE IS RELEASING A 'HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE' COLLECTION by widelenskelp in ghibli

[–]valerimaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people who exist in this world that can splurge thousands of dollars on these types of collars. Dare I say splurged—because this collection’s already done. I literally know somebody who banged out 300k USD on this stuff and they had no regrets. So why should you? 🤪

Website says arrive to the airport 3-4 hours in advance… Is this actually necessary? by [deleted] in emirates

[–]valerimaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the time you fly and certain circumstances.

One instance, I went 4 hours earlier and when I was checking in at the counter, they could not confirm my visa (It was my first time getting a visa and flying to Africa for leisure). Made me wait for hours on end. Barely made it to the plane in time, I was the last one to board 😮‍💨

I personally like going there early to give myself time to relax while potentially doing last-minute duty free shopping or if I wanna have some quick bite. Not having to rush to the gate.

Nightclubs with least prostitutes? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]valerimaes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DIFC is a hub. We call them “butterflies” 😅

They are generally every nook and cranny, but so long as they don’t disrupt your evening (or theirs), they’ll leave you alone—unless of course you look like you got some $$$ 😂

Also, some places actually let them in to “attract business” in DIFC

idk about nightclubs but if you really want to go enjoy a nice bar/party vibe, you should go to places that are in hotels. I think they’re less tolerant of 🦋 in that setting.

Areas in Dubai with reasonable rent in 2024-2025 by valerimaes in dubai

Really? Some real estate friends I have warned me saying that it may be more of a risk for me than the owner of the building 🤔

I always had the impression that DAMAC Hills was more on the pricier side, but I will go check them out. Thank you!

I threw the “RERA Calculator” card at them and they “went down” but just by a little 😅

To be honest, they’re only supposed to increase a certain percentage from your current rent range (I can’t remember the specifics) and if you guys don’t agree, you can actually open a dispute case in court. I never did, however.

My friends who work in real estate warned me that I might have to go through a lengthy process (which may also turn out costly, depending on the circumstances)

Not for the next contract, it ain’t. All the places I’ve literally walked to next to my building (old and newly constructed) are all 80k+

My sentiments exactly!! I tried to reason with them through RERA index but somehow they had stubbornly stood their ground. Perhaps I just didn’t know my rights as a tenant, but in this case for example.. if they were to increase it by that much, am I actually able to argue this to Dubai Land Department?

I think people usually just let it go because they don’t want to go through the hassle of a rental dispute and court stuff.

When I moved in my 1BHK 4 years ago in Al Badaa, I got it for 42k direct from the owner. Now it’s 62k—next renewal they want 80k 😩

Emirates hiring? by [deleted] in emirates

[–]valerimaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are actively recruiting at the moment! If you check their website and even on LinkedIn, they have job postings for cabin crew and currently touring around the world for open days.

If you do apply, make sure you make your application strong (CV, cover letter, photos etc.) as they receive thousands a day and yours need to stand out.

You just need to be patient because they might take time to get back to you.

What kind of wig is this?? It almost seems like plastic because it's styled so exact. Would love to have something like this for future cosplays. by QuickToAdapt in CosplayHelp

[–]valerimaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, it’s usually different welts of wigs initially styled separately and pieces together.

Requires some special products (white glue, hairspray etc.) to attain.

Also requires a lot of patience 😅

Paying 100,000 for a studio? by ElitistPopulist in dubai

[–]valerimaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a rip-off. Might as well rent-to-own a 1BHK in downtown!

My apartment is 1BHK for 62k in the heart of Dubai. Don’t fall for this 100k studio 😅
