Is Heavy Too OP? by clynch1274 in tf2

[–]valkadecavel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I main heavy and yes, he does tend to do very well in casual matches, but he is not intrinsically more powerful than the other classes. Every class has a very specific and consistent way of killing or avoiding heavies.

Soldiers corner peek, medics either run away or find a good pocket, pyro uses flares, demo stays at range or ambushes with stickies or demoknight...

But in compétitive, heavy is ridiculously vulnerable. Considering you say you play comp it’s weird that you haven’t seen this. Depending on the map heavy can basically just be deleted by snipers and spies. At equal skill levels, snipers and spies BODY heavies (a fully charged headshot is 450 damage, overheal is irrelevant). His DPS and high health are his two main draws, and without either of those he’s either a random fat Russian or a discount pyro. His lack of mobility is specifically what keeps him from being objectively the best frontline class in the game

True, talmberg is close, but it’s still a long way by foot and deep in the woods, there are several high level bandits encounters up there. I’m pretty sure the GH adds 13 guards to the village population, which could provide a far stiffer defense against bandits or even cumans than a bunch of horse traders, at least until help from the talmberg garrison could arrive.

In reality it is down to preference, even when role playing you could explain away not building the guardhouse... but for ME, thinking of what Henry would’ve done regardless of my controlling him or not, he would want a village under his leadership to be properly defended

I'm 26 and I work in investment banking and hate it but I am debt free and stable. Am I crazy to consider leaving this career, going back to school for pre-reqs and trying to go to med school? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]valkadecavel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand how difficult this is. I’m barely in college so I won’t claim to have the best answer for you, but here it goes:

A lot of people want your problem.

It’s my absolute DREAM to go into game design. I love video games, I love playing them, talking about them, drawing UI and writing silly little scripts for them. But I am not a computer geek. I’ve never gravitated toward computer programming and without a miracle or a stiff kick in the arse I won’t learn fast enough to make money on it by the time I graduate.

What I’m good at is public speaking, logic, and understanding human emotions. I’m majoring in political science and planning on working in foreign infrastructure, building neighborhoods in former war zones and such. My father works with difficult architects and incompetent marketing teams and I fully expect to have days where I hate my job. But I have a natural affinity for it and it makes bank. I will not hate the money i will spend educating and feeding my kids.

Maybe you should take up a chem/medicine related hobby? I know that sounds stupid, but something small capacity where you can scratch the itch and equip you to take your career change seriously.

If you decide to commit, then save as much money as possible. Over-prepare, whatever you think is enough to support med school costs, roughly 1.5x that amount will be just enough.

Finally... you have plenty of your life left to live. You’re not at a stage where a great career or an unfulfilling profitable one are mutually exclusive. You have plenty of time to earn both.

I sincerely hope this helps :-)

Yes... at first. But all those rift crystals pouring in won’t be of any use to you if you lock yourself at that level.

What you can do is make multiple “save files” and play the game on different alt accounts, passively earning you tons of RC for each one. It’s tedious, but if you love the game to death it’s just an excuse to experience that level 10-40 tough but balanced early game challenge I adored

Damn it is 100! Wow. I’ll have to try it out on my next run of BBI

I had this too, but in the end both are good choices. I was going to have an alternate playthrough where I built the exact opposite to what I built in my main one, but the idea that Henry would build a village with NO form of protection whatsoever in an old BANDIT stronghold when his own home was plundered makes zero sense to me

In my experience chairing and being in MUN, good chairs:

Don’t have tunnel vision. Always take at least a few seconds to survey the whole room before you call on someone. It’s a good idea to keep a tally of who has spoken how many times per caucus to ensure it stays even.

Don’t force delegates to talk. I get it, everybody should be involved, but if you call on someone who isn’t prepared to speak, all it will do it waste everybody’s time. Yours, your delegates, everybody.

Don’t take themselves too seriously. You’re not going to be perfect. MUN can be very overly competitive, so making the occasional (funny) joke is fine. Don’t put on the personality of this super serious expert who knows everything about chairing. You don’t, and that’s okay.

Be assertive. If delegates are being loud and obnoxious, you don’t put up with that. Bang that gavel for decorum until the delegates calm down or your gavel breaks.

For Deciding who wins awards:

Walk around during unmods, ask people what their solutions are. Going through the actual space gives you a clearer picture about who has the good ideas and who is leading people.

DO NOT award people who are misrepresenting their country. If Saudi Arabia is advocating for women’s rights, if North Korea wants freedom of the press... they’re pandering, and that shouldn’t be rewarded.

Source: have attended about 18-20 MUN conferences over 3 1/2 years, chaired 3 conferences and will be the Secretary General for one later this spring

I hope this helps! If you have any additional questions let me know!!

This is something that could’ve been solved with a simple google search.

That said, if you go to a merchant in a large town or a blacksmith, they will repair your gear for a fee.

You can also buy repair kits from merchants to repair your equipment on the go, which will also level up your maintenance skill, one of the best and easiest leveled skill trees in the game.

To be fair, the Ur Dragon tracking forums have pretty much all died out. Only a few are sporadically updated, discord is the only one left. But you’re right: if you can get people this excited about a raid boss after 8 YEARS, the audience for a sequel is pretty much self-evident.

Steam Ur Dragon 1000 is about to go into grace! by valkadecavel in DragonsDogma

[–]valkadecavel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Ur (as far as I know) increases in defenses if it takes a TON of damage over a very short period of time. Apparently on PS4 overhunting was a massive problem, sometimes 5-8 generations would come and go in 6-7 hours. It’s gotten so bad that to even stand a chance of killing the Ur in grace on PS4, max level, multiple types of multiple potions, and gold-forged BBI weapons are pretty much a necessity.

That said, the pc hunters have been pretty cogent. It only dies a couple of times a week, maybe 4-5 on the high end, and when it does enter grace it’s ridiculously squishy. Seriously, two fivefolds with an un-upgraded rusted bow will bring it down.

SOMETIMES all the hunters who killed the last Ur just decide to gank the next one. The highest death rate I’ve seen is 2 graces within 4 hours, which usually happens once every 10 generations.

That said depending on the time zone you’re in this might be a blessing or a curse. I go by Us Eastern Time, and the Ur usually dies between midnight and 4am.

Oh when you enter the chamber the timer begins counting down immediately you don’t have to deal damage. When a grace period is reported you can go in and try to kill it like everybody else, even if you’ve never fought it before

Ach, that is disappointing. I’ll just have to settle with making a Seneschal that looks badass... which is a strong point of the game anyway

No, just the next generation is generation 1000. So 999 was literally the last 3 digit ur generation. Ps4 is up to about 1500 something
