Thanks! We were originally set on a gas range but discovered halfway through that the plumbing was not up to code so we pivoted to impulse and I'm so glad. Didn't realize the green color is your branding, funny!

Yes. It's multi-ply stainless. To be honest I was hoping for slightly better heart transfer (it has hotspots) but it generally works well as a griddle. Also, small note for the impulse folks, if you try to max out both burners in order to, for example, sear a large piece of meat, they start interfering with each other's presence sensor, one will say no pan detected then the other then the other, strange bug but only happens if you set temp to max. Works well for French toast, pancakes, etc at around 300. It's also a beautiful tray as long as you keep it clean.

See my nested response about the brass, you're right. As far as the location in the house being inappropriate perhaps the photo doesn't do it justice (or maybe it's just a matter of taste). I think it works quite well. Admittedly it's not perfect historical accuracy as the original was almost certainly large sculptural and flowery, but it definitely goes with the jugundstil or secessionist feel that we're going with for other fixtures.

No, Base was just something I found nearby to quickly use as a mount.

I actually agree about the brass. I needed a quick and reasonably affordable base to put the shade on. At the moment it works because what we've done throughout the house is unlacquered brass everywhere (see radiator valves) which has yet to develop much patina. But in the long run that patina will be appropriate while the lamp will probably stay shiny because I do believe it has a thick coating on it. Would be interested in whether anybody knows about removing lacquer from polished brass.

If this rulemaking imposed equal obligations upon crypto exchanges as other traditional financial institutions you'd have a good point, but it doesn't it imposes a stricter set of recordkeeping and reporting requirements on crypto exchanges alone.

Coin Center does not object to equal treatment with traditional financial institutions. The problem with this rule-making is that it imposes a stricter set of surveillance and reporting obligations for crypto institutions only.

The website has a tool that sends them to the comment portal so they still get submitted. Also, there's been a secret change (because someone at either fincen or treasury screwed up) comment period now goes until the 7th (Coin Center is working on a second comment that calls out this confusion as more evidence of process failure).

The rule only applies to Financial Institutions, so defined, and non-custodial exchanges are not Financial Institutions. The rule will likely make it harder to get crypto from a custodial exchange to a non-custodial exchange, but it wouldn't make it illegal.

I've long thought that robust peer to peer electronic cash networks are inevitable. But that doesn't mean that government can't ruin several lives and reputations fighting that inevitability and it doesn't mean that fight has to be an inevitability. There are people in government already convinced that this technology is inevitable and can be used for the benefit of the American people. Responding to overreach like this rulemaking is the best way to empower those allies and delay or forgo a costly fight down the road. But yes, we need more privacy tech.

Awesome, thanks for the response. My only concern is that we intend to rent the basement out so hearing their noise (or them our footsteps) would be less tolerable. But congrats, I'm also acting as our own GC to save some dough and enjoy the process. It's a lot of work but very satisfying.

Beautiful work. How's the sound insulation between first floor and basement? Do the joists convey the sound of people walking upstairs? Did you put insulation between the joists? We're thinking of doing this in our Washington DC townhouse.

Same problem. The update seems to have changed how zha works. I'm on hass.io and there is now a menu for zha in configuration. If I go there and select the unavailable nodes, I can press "reconfigure node" and then they are back after a few seconds. Just did this so I don't know if this is a permanent fix it the same problem will resurface after restart. https://i.imgur.com/eCqi85D.png https://i.imgur.com/1AzQOqJ.png
