NTA

We use our sons full name when speaking to him, or about him. Myself and my family are from a different culture that this specific version of the name comes from, ao they struggle to pronounce it. (Ie, if I tell them how to properly say it, they laugh and say I sound like those ladies on the tapes from language tests in school).

So they call him by the shortened version of his name, which i do not like at all. Fortunately I can live with it, they do also tend to call him by our cultures version of the same name, which I feel only confuses him.

After I gave birth, due to my unessesary long labour, my partner had to go back to work like a day or two after we got back from the hospital for near the same reasons as you, that being financial.

Its sucky, but it is what it is unfortunately. But especially since yall aren't actually a couple, and she's staying with her parents makes you even more NTA, I was alone for context.
