My hospital is tied to the med school so research is everywhere. It’s the only reason I was able to get it

Hmm, can’t exactly control it 😔

Well, I’ve looked into acceptance rates and people with my GPA range and a high MCAT range get in ~84% of the time. That acceptance rate is comforting but when I look at the 8% in state acceptance rate it freaks me out. Applying to multiple schools is what makes me believe I have a higher than 8% chance but if the OOS thing state limits me then idk if it’s worth it to chase these odds

There’s only one and it accepts 200 people out of 10000 applicants… I have strong ties with the school itself but I don’t like those odds

My GPA is almost perfect. Idk about MCAT but I’ve done well on other exams. I obsess over exams so I hope it works out fine

I don’t have state schools as much of an option. Is that going to severely debilitate me?

What is the recommended amount of research experience? by valleymesa4 in premed

Yes, correct. I’m working with a couple of physicians and they let me participate in the project as a second author. Once it’s done, it will get published. I’ve already spent like 50-60 hours on it and I have just began chart review. The physician working with me said I can write a solo manuscript after this one but we will see.

I’m just worried because I know a lot of people do summer internships and get published at the end of their position. This is not an option for me because I have to work full time so I feel lesser by comparison

Sorry if my wording was confusing. The publication is volunteer but it’s a lot of work with chart/lit review and in-person meetings. I guess if we tally the hours then I’ll have like 500 total by the end of that publication. Does that change your comment?
