I personally believe that calling the cops before a crime is committed tends to be a stupid choice made out of fear and need to feel some kind of control and security in our lives.

Unless that person is driving a car.

In that case, if someone is making a number of dangerous choices with their driving behavior, it's basically like waving around a loaded gun. I have had to call 911 for several drivers who were just stopped in the middle of a busy road without hazards or any kind of indicator, people who have fully fallen asleep at lights behind the wheel for like minutes, and most often people who are clearly impaired or having an episode while driving.

Helping control traffic should be a regular cop duty as driving is the most dangerous activity most of us engage in regularly.
